My good friend Teken is putting together the City Spit Art Show Minneapolis to celebrate some amazing artists. Many of these artists I know personally and own their art. If you do one thing in March please go see this show and support our local art.
CWA: CITY SPIT
March 4th through March 25th
Opening Friday, March 4th, 2016 – 6pm
Inspired by Times Square Show, the legendary 1980 group, CWA: CITY SPIT will be a monumental show exhibiting some of the Twin Cities’ most interesting, talked (or whispered) about known, and unknown artists.
With a focus on social and art diversity reflecting the values of City Wide Artists, we have assembled 50+ new and known artists – and project that some major ideas and names should emerge, thus offering a thoughtful representation of the state of Twin Cities art.
With our anniversary show, we are aiming for accessibility without compromise – presenting art works ranging not only in medium and content, but also in price. We are proud to be working with artists whose price points range in the few hundred dollars to a few thousand. The goal is to get art to everyone. The sharing of creative ideas is key, but we want to encourage our community to get behind local artists in order to stimulate their careers and practice. It is the sort of artistic and economic development model that we are dedicating our space to.
Please note the updated and finalized list of artists:
Felix Hampton Brown
Pr. Adetomiwa Gbadebo
Jonny No Home
KNZ Mackenzie Owens
Justin James Sehorn
Alan de Leon Taverna
These artists represent some of the various communities contributing to our local art scene. From wheat paste to fine painting, we will see a mix of ideas and mediums that from the street to the gallery inspire our mission for City Wide Artists.
