Structured Jackets

August 5, 2010 by IamMoody

There are very few pieces of wardrobe that are more forgiving and more useful than the structured jacket. The structured jacket provides lines and movements that help to draw attention away from a trouble area and towards a more flattering area of the body. The structured jacket can help make a casual outfit appear more formal. They often have convenient pockets for those outfits without pockets. They help people a person warm. They provide a canvas for pins and broaches, allowing for a little extra pizzazz to be added to an outfit.

The structured jacket is different than other types of jackets. This jacket has darting and hugs the body. This jacket creates lines, while a regular jacket typically just hangs on the body. The structured jacket is not a thick jacket, but more likely to be worn indoors rather than outdoors. This jacket is more associated with a business casual to formal look rather than the sheer casual look.

When picking out a structured jacket, it is important that the jacket fits properly. The buttons should be able to close comfortably on the jacket. The sleeves should hit at the first knuckle of the thumb when your hands are strait down. A full range of movement may not be possible with the jacket, but some movement should be. If the jacket is pinching or is too tight in the arms, pick up a large size jacket. If the jacket simply will not fit, then move on to a different style jacket or resign yourself to seeing a seamstress after your shopping trip.

Color is important when picking structured jackets. The jacket is not an every day piece and cannot necessarily be thrown in the wash like the rest of the clothing. Pick a jacket that works well with various outfits and styles. The jacket can either be the pop of color or it can be a base/ neutral color. It all depends upon what your wardrobe has more of. The jacket can also help to tie in a different color into the outfit. Avoid jackets that excessively bright or have too much of a pattern. These are big pieces of an outfit and can easily become overwhelming.

Style is also very important. A classic structured jacket will see much more use than a trendy jacket. Avoid buying structured jackets that are ripped or torn, feature large collars or other trendy looks. Instead, buy classic pieces that have a touch of a feminine flair. Do not go overboard with this feminine flair and pick a structured jacket with fake jewels and sequins on it. Pick one with a small flower or a feminine cut that is flattering to the female body and your body in particular.

Once the jacket has been picked, it is easy to pick an outfit to wear with it. Most outfits look great with a structured jacket. A dress can be paired with a structured jacket to make it work appropriate. A pair of jeans can be paired with the structured jacket to make it dressier. This really is a wonderful piece of wardrobe that everyone should own and look into.

School Wardrobe Hints

August 5, 2010 by IamMoody

The school year is almost here for college and grade schools. This means it is time for shopping! Not only are there school supplies that need to be purchased, but there is also the school year wardrobe. Unless your or your child’s school has a uniform policy, there are some things you have to consider when picking out clothing for the school year. These items include what is fashionable and what is appropriate.

The school setting is designed to be conducive to the education of the child. While there will always be an emphasis on socialization by the students, education is the primary focus of the schools. This is especially true for colleges when the average student is accruing more debt than they will know what to do with.

As mentioned before, clothing can help to make the person. It puts a person in a specific state of mind and gives other people an opinion as to what that person is placing as a priority. A prudent school wardrobe keeps this in mind. The clothing should be more professional than the average outfit that the child might run around town in. This outfit does not have to be a miniature suit, but it should not be sweat pants or the horrid pajama bottoms.

When looking for a good school wardrobe, no matter if the child is in 5th grade or if the individual is applying for his doctorate in college, remember where the clothing is going to be worn. Buy button down shirts or polo shirts for boys. Limit the jeans that are going to be worn. Skirts should hit just above the knee or lower. Blouses should be thick enough to hide the bra. Nothing should be overly revealing or flashy, since this is a school environment. Shoes should be comfortable but not sneakers.

Accessories are another thing to think about when buying a school wardrobe. Remember, the accessories are to help make the outfit, but not to serve as toys during a boring lecture. Limit the number of accessories worn in the classroom. Pieces that have special meaning are more than welcome to remain on the child, but sparkly bracelets for the student to play with, or wallet chains to attract attention with are not acceptable in the school environment.

Keeping these rules in mind can help to steer a young child onto a lifetime of learning and fashion success. Keeping these guidelines in mind as a college student can help the student build contacts and be taken seriously by his teachers. This can help a student find a job easier once the degree has been completed. It will also prepare the students for the real world where this style of dress is expected in the office as well.

Fall’s Hottest Shoes for Women

July 31, 2010 by IamMoody

Woman’s footwear is always changing. Not only does a woman need shoes that fit her outfit, but she needs the shoes to fit in with the latest styles. The next season’s shoes are already out on the market, and they are sharp, literally. The pointed pumps are back! This classic style never goes out of style, but every now and again, it gets the recognition that it deserves as a fashionable piece of a woman’s wardrobe.

There are some benefits to the pointed toe pump. First, they help to flatter every body type. They help to draw the eye into a very sharp and strait line. This helps to create length and leanness, even if the body is not quite as lean and long. It also helps to add a sense of confidence and sophistication to an outfit that would otherwise be less so. This style shoe does not cramp the toes like one would think, but rather extends beyond the toe leaving the toes in the wider section of the shoe.

The pointed toe pumps and shoes do not have to be plain and bland. They can be more daring and eye-catching. These shoes like the calf leather pump from Luis Vuitton sports a large bow over the toe of the pump. While this does distract from the line that the pump would otherwise create, it does add a visual interest to an otherwise boring shoe. The Slingback from Stella McCartney offers the best of the pointed heel pump and the sex appeal of the strappy heel. Covered with small studs, this shoe is all the rage with the sleek and the daring.

No matter what style of pointed toe pumps you favor, you will be the head of your fall fashion class with these shoes. Easy to pair with everything from jeans to a suit, the pointed toe pump and heels are incredibly versatile and flattering. Enjoy them and this fall season’s greatest styles.
