Funding from this event provides scholarships for students of low-income families in Jamaica, who otherwise would not be able to attend school.
ABOUT THE JAMAICA MINNESOTA ORGANIZATION
Established in 1992, JMO provides a network in Minnesota for Jamaicans and Friends of
Jamaica while improving social and economic conditions in Jamaica. Several relevant endeavours include meetings and cultural events; Meal Service and Collection Drives for Minneapolis’ People Serving People Homeless Shelter; Other local volunteering; Scholarship Program; School Adoption Program; Annual Mayo Clinic Collection Drive; Shipment of
computers and other educational supplies to several primary schools, high schools and UWI Medical School
as well as the Ministry of Education; Shipment of medical supplies to the Ministry of Health; The institution of trade
and investment conferences; Monetary contributions for Hurricane Disaster Relief projects and the Jamaica Dental Outreach
Program. We continue to look for ways to improve and increase our contributions to better meet the needs of our local and overseas communities.
