Threads of Impact: A Night to Remember

May 18, 2025 by IamMoody

On May 3, Sister Spokesman hosted its annual Threads of Impact, a fashion show that celebrated creativity and cultural expression. As the producer of this event, I had the privilege of helping Minnesota’s top models grace the runway, showcasing a curated lineup of designers, each bringing their unique voice to the forefront.

The show opened with Kathryn Rogers of House of KLynn, who captivated the audience with dramatic silhouettes and luxurious fabric choices. Her collection embodied elegance and power, setting a high standard for the evening.

Next up was Satiya Amporful of Uniquely Global, whose bold Afrocentric prints and regal designs paid homage to diasporic heritage. Each piece told a story, connecting the past to the present and celebrating the richness of cultural identity.

Rounding out our designer trio was Marques Armstrong of Renaissance, who delivered striking menswear that beautifully fused streetwear with classic tailoring. His innovative approach resonated with the audience, showcasing the evolution of modern fashion.

As a surprise highlight of the evening, Sister Spokesman honored me and fellow fashion icon Sara Rogers with awards for our contributions to the industry. It was a humbling moment that underscored the power of community and collaboration in fashion.

Overall, Threads of Impact was not just a showcase of fashion; it was a celebration of voices, stories, and the vibrant tapestry of cultures that inspire us all. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!

Richard Moody Fashion Producer Featured In Sister Statesman + Upcoming Fashion Show

April 25, 2025 by IamMoody

In a recent feature by Kiara Williams, I had the opportunity to share my journey as a local fashion icon with a global perspective. For decades, I’ve been committed to creating spaces for Black artists, youth, and creatives in the Twin Cities’ fashion scene.

With nearly 45 years at Delta Airlines, my travels have taken me around the world, enriching my fashion sensibility. I always stress the importance of professionalism and credibility in this industry. I urge aspiring models to focus on traditional pathways rather than social media trends. It’s vital to understand the business and to approach it with seriousness.

I’m passionate about collaborating with local designers and uplifting our community. Events like Threads of Impact, part of Black Fashion Week Minnesota, are incredibly important to me. Set for May 3, this showcase will elevate local talent and celebrate diverse voices in fashion.

My approach blends creativity with business acumen. I encourage creatives to own their narratives and think globally. As we prepare for the upcoming event, my commitment to lifting others in the industry remains a driving force.

I invite you to join us at the St. Paul Wilder Center on May 3 from noon to 3 PM for this vibrant celebration of fashion and community!

A Night of Celebration and Generosity

Held in an atmosphere of warmth and joy, the event featured a delightful mix of entertainment, camaraderie, and holiday cheer.
