In childhood and older age, as the human mind is first growing and then slowing down, the impact of music, dance and visual arts on cognitive abilities is most easily seen. Weaving together stories from childhood and older age, ARTS & THE MIND journeys across America to reveal compelling present-day examples, cutting edge science, and historical context that make clear how and why the arts are a vital part of our health and well-being at both ends of life.

Kairos Dance Theatre, a leader in revealing the extraordinary healing powers of dance and storytelling, is proud to be one of the featured artistic groups in the upcoming 2-hour PBS documentary project, ARTS & THE MIND – which explores the effects of the arts on the development and behavior of humans at both ends of life.

The filming of the segment on Kairos will include a performance at one of the country’s greatest Jazz clubs. This free performance is your chance to see a legendary saxophone giant, Irv Williams, still swinging in his 90’s along with the joyous and heartwarming dance of Kairos – an intergenerational company featuring dancers from 5 – 85 years old.
