During the past year, Mixed Blood and Bedlam Theatres have been working with many members of the Cedar Riverside East African community on a collaborative project – collecting the stories and experiences of our neighbors and using them as the basis of a new original play, calledKu soo Dhawaada Xaafadeena, or Welcome to Our Neighborhood. It’s a show created by, for, with and about the people of Cedar Riverside, developed in collaboration with playwright David Grant, and performed by the Voices of Cedar Riverside Ensemble of emerging East African youth and young adult actors. Performances are at the Cedar Cultural Center, Saturday & Sunday, July 23 & 24 (6 pm) and Thursday – Sunday, July 28-31 (7 pm.)
