The New IamMoody World Headquarters

May 21, 2009 by IamMoody

office1IamMoody has been growing nicely thanks to the support of so many businesses look for exciting event planning in the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and throughout Minnesota. We have also been growing the team.  In addition to Richard, Marcus, and Jordin we have recently added Dawn to the family.

All of this activity created the need for a common gathering spot.  It’s something we have been talking about for awhile, but never quite found the right space for our needs. Check it out our location on Google

With a little luck on our side our friends at Phillips Gardens told us about some extra space they had available.  After checking it out we all agreed it was perfect.  We are all moved in and very happy. Dawn likes the garden feel, Marcus likes the Bamboo floors, and Richard likes the fancy coffee maker.

Phillips Garden renovated the space from an old garage into a design studio in Minneapolis MN.  The studio space won a CUE Award (Committee On Urban Environment) in 2002 for “significant achievement in design and aesthetic excellence”. In 2005 we hired Alchemy Architects to create a second floor addition to our studio space in the form of a modern, modular weeHouse.  This is where our office is located.

This leads to the shameless plug for Phillips Gardens.  We have been very impressed with some of the projects. These guys are very passionate about what they do and can even mock everything up using CAD technology so you know what it looks like before it there.  They are experts at landscape design, hordicultural install and maintance.

The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide To Capitalism And Socialism With A Key To The Scriptures

Written by Tony Kushner
Directed by Michael Greif

The title of Tony Kushner’s new play is inspired by two 19th-century thinkers and their works — George Bernard Shaw’s The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Socialism and Capitalism and Mary Baker Eddy’s Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The play looks at the life of a 20th-century thinker, retired longshoreman Gus Marcantonio (filmmaker, actor and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Michael Cristofer), who’s feeling confused and defeated by the 21st century. In summer 2007, he invites his sister and his three children (who in turn bring along spouses, ex-spouses, lovers and more) to a most unusual family reunion in their Brooklyn brownstone.

With humor and passion, the play examines the importance of connectedness and belonging – to a family, a community, a group, an ideology, a marriage – and what happens when those connections are lost.

This production contains strong language, sexual situations, smoking and nudity.

Caroline, Or Change
Book and lyrics by Tony Kushner
Music by Jeanine Tesori
Directed by Marcela Lorca

Set in 1963 Louisiana, against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, Kennedy’s assassination and the Vietnam war, this Tony-nominated musical centers on Caroline Thibodeaux, a divorced African American maid and Noah Gellman, the eight-year-old son of the Jewish family for whom she works. When Caroline finds loose change in Noah’s pants pockets at laundry time, Noah’s stepmother Rose tells her to keep it to teach him a lesson and to treat her four children. Yet the acceptance of change – from taking money from a child to coping with memories of the past – does not come easily and threatens to crush Caroline’s relationships and spirit. It’s finally through her independent teenage daughter’s vision and strength that Caroline realizes that change can, in fact, set her free.

Featuring a virtuosic score by Jeanine Tesori (Shrek the Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie), it blends blues, gospel and traditional Jewish melodies, creating a breathtaking medium for Kushner’s provocative and personal story. When Caroline, or Change opened in New York, Frank Rich of The New York Times called the musical “extraordinary” and Time magazine noted “the score is almost entirely sung through — but with a story so grounded in the ordinary details of life in a specific place and time that it almost seems to have discovered a new genre.”

June 27th – Project DIVA Benefit

May 9, 2009 by IamMoody

Dawn from the IamMoody.com team spends some of here volunteer time helping out with Project Diva.  Recently she was approached by the Project Diva board about getting involved in their annual  fundraiser and see if the whole IamMoody.com team could help.  We love Dawn and jumped at the chance.

Project Diva dedicated to sharing quality time discussing important topics that matter to our young ladies.  We challenge you to start  now and mentor your child and their ‘three’ friends by taking a few moments out of your day to have genuine conversations about what matters to them!  Start with a conversation about relationships and sex and make a difference in their lives so that they don’t become a statistic.

The event takes place at one of our favorite venues SEVEN in Downtown Minneapolis  . We know there are a lot of reason to donate in today’s depressed economy, but we need to keep it local and help our neighbors.
