About the Pink Carpet Event

The Pink Carpet Event was created out of a passion to pursue a cure for breast cancer and provide a premier social engagement for those wanting to help join the fight. Local jewelry designer, Sara Beth Goldfine Baratz of SBG Designs, approached CRAVE with the idea of throwing a premiere event to raise funds and fight the disease that has hit very close to home. Sara’s sister, Elly Zweigbaum, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38. Elly is now a cancer survivor, whose resilient response to the disease inspired Sara to join the fight against breast cancer and create The Pink Carpet Event.

Nicole Henry at the Dakota Jazz Club

June 6, 2013 by IamMoody

“I had the sense of being in the presence of a pop-soul superwoman whose every gesture and inflection conveyed confidence and mastery…. time and again she invested familiar songs with an extra fillip of conviction and made you reconsider the words.” – Stephen Holden, The New York Times

“…the vocal love-child of Whitney Houston and Sarah Vaughan.” – Jordan Levin, Miami Herald

Nicole Henry has firmly established herself as one of the most acclaimed entertainers in jazz. Her powerfully expressive voice and her soulful, sophisticated and uplifting energy has earned her three top 10 albums. Adding to her vocal talents, Nicole’s beauty and on-stage rapport combines confidence, sincerity and a touch of sass, confirming her as an all-around beguiling performer to audiences in over 15 countries.

Nicole Henry, vocals
Terry Burns, bass
Joe Elliott, guitar
Sean Turner, piano
David Chiverton, drums

Her 2004 debut CD release, The Nearness of You, won considerable attention from audiences and critics in the U.S. and in Japan, where they named Nicole Best New Jazz Artist of 2004. The following year, Nicole’s Teach Me Tonight reached #1 in Japan and was named HMV Japan’s Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005. Finally, 2008′s The Very Thought of You substantially expanded her American audience, reaching #7 on Billboard’s jazz chart.

Growing up in a musical family in Bucks County, PA, Nicole immersed herself in the arts early on, singing in school and church, and studying cello and ballet. After graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Communications and Theatre, Nicole launched a successful acting career, appearing in commercial roles as well as a series of voiceover assignments. But she directed her strongest passion toward the development of her full-time singing career which was quickly rewarded in her present hometown, when the Miami New Times named Nicole “Best Solo Musician 2002.” She continues to be a winner on every stage she graces.

HAMMS Event

April 7, 2013 by IamMoody

HAMMS Event is a Minnesota Market for men, women and their pooches – one day only.
[and there’s a twist… one vendor will win up to $5000 from ticket sales!]

Join us for One Day Only!

Saturday, April 20th, 2013

10:00am – 7:00pm

Laura Horn in Dhanurasana (Bow pose), Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota.HAMMS Event is a one-day, dog-friendly market for men and women. A Minnesota Market with a twist!
Shop 25,000 square feet of products for both men and women.  Meet the Minnesota Makers themselves, nibble on food from both vendors and food trucks, sip vino and samples of local brew.

HAMMS stands for: Help A Minnesota Maker Succeed. And, it just so happens to take place at the former Hamm’s brewery shipping docks.

dudeHAMMS was born out of the “shop local” and “shop small business” philosophy, and the need for small businesses to stick together to help one another succeed. Funding is difficult for micro businesses, so we have put a spin on the “crowd funding” concept.

The HAMMS Event Founders have taken the “crowd funding” craze one step further and are pledging up to $5000 of ticket sales/donations of HAMMS Event to one lucky vendor. What does “up to $5000” mean? It means that if we sell $2000 in tickets, one vendor will receive that amount of money, but we want at least $5000 in ticket sales because that will really help one small business take it to the next level.

Apply to be a vendor or come support them by shopping the HAMMS Event.
