Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day of happiness and love. This is when people send time with their loved one and do something romantic together. This is one of the hottest days for jewelry purchases, roses and chocolate. Restaurants will be packed, as will the movies. However, not everyone has that special someone in their lives to spend this Valentine’s Day.
Not having anyone to share Valentine’s Day with can cause some people to experience a depression. They may even feel as though they are the only one who does not have anyone to spend the holiday with. However, there are many people who lack a special someone to spend this commercial love holiday with. For these individuals, there are some things that can be done to pass this time alone and maybe even find someone to spend next Valentine’s Day with.
One of my favorite activities was to go out to some of the bars that featured the “Meet Markets”. These were activities geared specifically for single individuals where they get to go out, drink and dance, and even potentially meet that special individual. These activities are ideal because they get everyone together, take the pressure out of introducing ourselves and they even provide an activity.
Another thing I like to do when I don’t have a date for the lover’s holiday is to indulge in a girl’s night in. This typically includes ice cream, chick flicks and make-overs. However, this is a very gender specific idea. Men would indulge in a man night, watching sports or what ever else men like to do when they get together. (Sorry, never actually been invited to a man’s night in/out, so I have no idea.)
No matter what I did on Valentine’s Day, I make sure I had fun. Just because I was single, it did not mean that I sat around and sulked. It just meant that I had to try a little harder to ensure that I was not left out in the activities and the fun that is the holiday. You shouldn’t either.
