Spring Fashion Colors

January 28, 2011 by IamMoody

This spring it is all about a color known as honeysuckle. This is a pinkish-orange color. It screams spring! It is big and bold. It is flattering on most skin colors and can help to cheer a person up in a cinch. However, this color can be over done. Once it is over done, it becomes demanding and too loud, making one look like a fool rather than a fashionable individual.

First off, remember that just because a color is hot, that does not mean it needs to be worn. Some people really do not like this color. Personally, I love it, but hey, I love color. If you don’t like it, don’t wear it. Just don’t be surprised if you see a lot of it this season.

If the issue with the clothing is that it does not go well with your skin tone, relax, there are ways around this. First, consider layering the outfit. Try placing a neutral color under the honeysuckle to create a more relaxed feel to it. This will keep the bright honeysuckle off your skin, but still allow you to wear this hot color. Do not pair this with another loud color as this can become overly demanding and loud.

Another idea is to use this brilliant color as that “pop” of color we talked about throughout the year. Try using it in your shoes, as a belt, or as a cami. This scan keep the color limited, provide a more professional look, and still allow you to have fun with this great color. After all, that’s what fashion is all about, feel, look and fun.

How to Give a Romantic Massage on Valentine’s Day

January 28, 2011 by IamMoody

You don’t have to be rolling in cash just to give someone a great Valentine’s Day gift. Sometimes the gifts that come from the heart are the most meaningful. With Lover’s Day coming up just around the corner in Mid-February, I am sure that there are many of you out there that may be undecided about what you should get for that special someone in your life. One thing to consider here – even if you already have a great gift purchased, or plan on purchasing one – is that a romantic massage will always win over hearts.

But only if you have a few good pointers in mind before you start getting busy with your hands. So to better help you out along the way, here are some easy tips on how you can pull off a very romantic Valentine’s Day massage. A massage can be an amazing heartfelt gift that will certainly demonstrate to your significant other that they truly do the mean the world to you.

Make sure that you have the necessary items before you decide to offer a romantic massage. A few things that you will want to have handy: Some scented candles and soft music to set the mood, scented or non-scented massage oils for lubrication, and some sheets that you can lay out on the bed so that you don’t stain your mattress or comforter with excess oil runoff. Also, burning some incense can aid in relaxation too.

You may want to watch a few how-to videos on giving massages so that you know how to use your hands in the proper way, even if you are not a trained massage therapist. I have taken the liberty of looking around to find one for you. Swedish massage happens to be a very popular form of relaxing massage.

Top Five Valentine’s Day Gifts (Excluding Flowers & Candy)

January 27, 2011 by IamMoody

The romancing day of Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us, and you have roughly two weeks or so to get some ideas under your belt and ensure that you are ready for this special day. If you happen to be in a relationship, I am sure that there have been some classic Valentine’s Day gifts that you have been considering. But it doesn’t hurt to think outside of the box every once in a while, either. So with that in mind, I have a few more Valentine’s Day gift ideas for you that stray a little bit away from the cliché. All so that you can change things up if you so desire.

  1. Romantic escape: Think about the last time that you got away from it all. It doesn’t have to be very expensive. Even getting a nice hotel room a few cities away can allow you to get some one-on-one time in and change up the pace a tad bit.
  2. Get her a girl’s day at the spa. I don’t think that any woman would be disappointed by a spa day. You can easily find some great packages around this time of the year as well. A massage, a facial and a body wrap would make her feel oh’ so loved.
  3. His and her engraved bracelets. What a way for you to really show that your relationship is that special and meaningful to you. You can find some great deals on jewelry this time of the year, and you can also have it engraved with both of your initials and something romantic and sweet.
  4. Lingerie will make her smile and reward you as well. Girls love getting lingerie. Just make sure that you know what her sizes are before splurging, and make sure to get a gift receipt in case she needs to make any exchanges.
  5. Couple’s massage. Treat both of you to an intimate and very relaxing couple’s massage. You can find some great package deals on these, and they usually offer an hour of pampering for the both of you, generally in the same room with two massage therapists.

K2 “Spice” (Synthetic Marijuana) Not So Spicy – Unfashionable for the Mind; Feds, Biz’s working to Ban Usage of this Dangerous Substance

January 21, 2011 by IamMoody

I know that this is a bit off topic. However, I can’t help but reading about this new and harmful, untested and very dangerous synthetic marijuana called “Spice.” It’s also been called “K2.” After reading numerous news reports, seeing the shocking numbers of overdoses that have been documented and then learning that it is somehow still legal, I thought that a short write-up on it was warranted.

If you have not heard about this new wave of legal and mind-bending drugs hitting head shops around the country, allow me to bring you up to speed. Shortly, it will be banned. And hopefully soon. Until such a time, if you have kids, make sure you educate them on the dangers of Spice. Also, for those of you who think that you could use it and get away with it at work, think again; there are new tests out for it. Lastly, the Feds and many state governments are hard at work to officially ban this harmful substance once and for all.

So here’s the scoop…

There has been much discussion in both the legal and medical communities, as well as within the workplaces, over the dangers of “K2,” or “Spice,” and synthetic marijuana. K2, or Spice, is a synthesized version of marijuana, which combines a mixture of unknown herbs that are sprayed with chemicals that are not disclosed on the ingredients list on the packaging, that are supposed to contain synthetic amounts of THC variants that are not currently banned by the DEA or the federal government, which purportedly gives the user a “high” that is similar to marijuana. In so many words: People are buying this herb mixture – which is available at most smoke shops or head shops around the country – and smoking toxic substances that get them high. The packaging, oddly enough, is labeled as, “Not for human consumption.”

Researchers are warning of the dangers of smoking what they deem as “toxic substances” for any person who is considering using spice to get high. A reputed professor of toxicology at Saint Louis University, Anthony Scalzo, M.D., who is also the director at the Missouri Regional Poison Control Center, advises that spice is both dangerous and very toxic. “K2 may be a mixture of herbal and spice plant products, but it is sprayed with a potent psychotropic drug and likely contaminated with an unknown toxic substance that is causing many adverse effects. These toxic chemicals are neither natural nor safe,” Scalzo explains.

For those who think that by smoking spice they can avoid being penalized at workplaces that drug test them, major drug testing labs have already updated their tests so that they can identify persons who are using this drug. The Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, Inc., a major drug testing lab that is used by many employers to test their employees, has announced on their website recently that, “It now offers lab-based testing for the detection of JWH-018 and JWH-073 metabolites in urine. JWH-018 and JWH-073 are the primary synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists responsible for the euphoric and psychoactive effects that imitate marijuana and are among the numerous compounds found in “herbal” incense or smoke blends.” Many other labs are following suit.

For those considering using spice to get high, they not only could be placing their health at serious risk, but they could also be risking their jobs as well if they test positive for spice. The side effects that are being reported by emergency rooms are off the charts, according to Scalzo. Common documented side effects include: Agitation, elevated heart rate, hallucinations, increased blood pressure, tremors, seizures and vomiting. Currently spice is on a ballot to be banned by the DEA, and it is also being banned by individual cities across the US.

White Teeth for a Bright New Year

January 20, 2011 by IamMoody

Every time one turns on the television, there is an advertisement for teeth whitening products. The question is which ones work and how do people keep their teeth white between treatments. After all, if the effect is only a single use, temporary fix, what is the point of using the method. Luckily there are some answers out there for dental whitening treatments and how to maintain that pearly white smile all year long.

Whitening Treatments

  • The best whitening systems include the ones what have a chemical whitener, such as bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Do not assume that simply shining a black light onto the teeth will make them whiter, because this is not going to work. There has to be a chemical agent to remove the stains.
  • Colgate has those strips that set on the teeth and claim to remove the stains. These do appear to work for most people. Those that have difficulty with these strips include those who do not have straight teeth. If the teeth are not straight, consider using a tooth tray that allows for some differences in the teeth alignment.
  • Be sure not to use a whitener that claims to lift a layer of enamel from the teeth. The teeth will not produce any new enamel, and you can open your teeth up to cavities and sensitivities.
  • If in doubt, talk to your dentist about what whitening agent he or she suggests. The dentist will help you find the right agent to use that is safe for any dental work that you may have had in the past.

Keeping Teeth White

  • Stay way from cigarette and cigar smoking. The tar and nicotine in the cigarettes and cigars is quick to stain the teeth. This is often very difficult to remove from the teeth, even brushing your teeth immediately after smoking can leave those stains on the teeth.
  • Avoid red wine and cola. Red wine, though healthy can leave stains on your teeth. The cola weakens the enamel and leaves it soft. This makes the teeth more porous and more prone to stains. Avoid these substances as often as possible and if they cannot be avoided, brush your teeth as soon as possible.
  • Brush and floss your teeth after every meal, as soon as you get a chance to. Keeping a small toothbrush and toothpaste in your purse can help greatly. Even if you were not worried about white teeth, the feel of fresh breath is nice, plus it is nice for everyone around you.
  • Drink plenty of plain water. The plain water does not have any colors or sugars that can harm or stain your teeth. It can also leave you feeling hydrated and less likely to engage in drinking other things.
  • Coffee is an essential aspect of most people’s lives, however it is also a number one culprate for tooth staining. This is because the acidity in the coffee weakens the teeth and leaves them more porous. The dark color of the coffee then works its way into the teeth and leaves them stained.

This is hardly a comprehensive guide to keeping your teeth white, but it can help considerably. Remember, just because your teeth look white, it does not mean that skipping dental appointments is a good idea. Be sure to keep your dental appointments at least twice a year for regular cleaning and preventative maintenance. This can be the single best thing you can do to keep or obtain a white and beautiful smile.
