Fashion Canvas Totes

September 6, 2010 by IamMoody

It has become quite fashionable to want to save the world and the environment any more. This is a trend that I can only hope that makes its way into the everyday mode, much like the jeans did so long ago. One big thing is the overwhelming presence of the plastic bag. The plastic bag does not decompose like paper or even textiles. As of yet, there is nothing that is going to eat away at these bags. In addition, in order for these bags to be made, oil has to be used in the mix. With the oil spill from the well in the Gulf of Mexico, many people are shying away from things that require crude oil in their production.

The canvas bag is helping to replace the plastic bag. It is an eco-friendly method of carrying products out of the store and into the home. They are sturdy and durable, making these bags able to hold their shapes better and carry more weight. In addition, these bags are washable and re-usable. They even come in the latest fashionable looks!

Fashion canvas totes appeared as soon as the functional totes did. These totes sport cute sayings like Wal-Mart’s “Paper or Plastic? Neither.” And Save-a-Lot’s “Save some Green” with a tree under it and money as leaves. These totes can also feature cute designs that work well with a person’s outfit.

There are even fashion totes that allow you to further personalize them. These totes can be found in the craft stores, ready to be beaded or stitched to the individual’s specific plans and desires. When doing this though, know when to stop. The tote does not have to be crazy to be good for the environment and fashionable.

The canvas tote has also been known to inspire very expensive totes. This includes the Louis Vuitton “That’s Love” Canvas tote. This tote carries a whopping price tag of $1720, but has the same boxy design and construction of the $.99 cent totes that you can buy at Wal-Mart. This is just a show of how popular and how fashionable these totes have become.

Fashionable Laptop Cases

September 6, 2010 by IamMoody

It used to be that only business leaders had an at home computer. Then when the laptop came out, they were the only ones who needed that type of computer as well. Now, most people own a lap top. This has lead to the increasingly high numbers of laptop covers. However, some of these covers are nothing but horrid, while other s are cuter than can be. With so many covers available from so many different brands, it is actually rather difficult to say which ones are fashionable and where to get them. In addition, laptops are not all one size and the laptop cases are meant to fit the computer before anything else.

1. Make sure the case fits your computer. We discuss a lot about making sure your clothing fits you, and this is no different when it comes to your computer. Do not try to force on a cover that is simply too small for your computer or one that allows the computer to slight with little difficulty. Most covers will say what size computer they cover in Inches right on the front over of the computer case.
2. Think textiles! Remember, your computer cover is supposed to be protecting your computer from any elements that may be coming at it. This means that you have to ensure that the material is water proof, or at the least, water resistant. Quilts and book covers do not give enough protection to the computer.
3. Colors. I saw a friend with a pink laptop bag. It was hideous and did not go with anything she wore. While color is such a minor thing when it comes to your lap top case, simplicity is best. This is so that the case goes with most of the professional clothing that the ideas
4. Handles. The laptop cover does not have to have handles, but talking from a clumsy background, it is a good idea to have handles on your laptop case. This will help to prevent you from dropping it and it allows your hands to be free to carry other things. These handles can be wrist handles, but these can cut into your skin after a while. My personal favorite handles are the cross body handles. This makes your laptop bag look more like a mail bag, rather than a laptop bag.
5. Locks. It is important to be able to lock your computer up when you have it out and about with you. This is more than just locking your keyboard, but actually involves locking the case. A good laptop cover will have 2 small looks on it that allows the case to open and accessed. These will help to protect the laptop from would be thieves.

Apathy is the Epitome of Misery (The Emo Diatribe Revealed)

September 6, 2010 by IamMoody

I love to attend live music events. After being in a touring rock band for nearly a decade, before finally parting ways with the music industry and calling it a day, I have found that I still love to go out and catch live shows. But there is one thing that I have been noticing at a lot of live shows as of late: Emo kids. They are everywhere I go: Emo this and emo that, emo clothing that makes you not look fat and skinny jeans for bones and beans. The emo mantra is so silly, when you really take a good gander at it. And if you really want to chuckle, look up “Emo Kid” on Youtube.com and watch that hilarious, viral music video; you will laugh so hard that milk comes out your nostrils. After being bombarded with everything emo, and very recently, I have to dish out my two cents on this subculture that is a bad carbon copy of gothic-kids, gone terribly awry.

Top Five Reasons Emo is Uber Lame (And Then Some)!

  1. Apathetic kids that come from privileged households. I am willing to bet that most emo kids are actually from middle or upper class families. How do you think that they can afford all that makeup and glamour?
  2. Hot topic is in business because of emo kids. Hot topic, more like boring subject. The real name of this emo store should be, “I Feel So Dead Inside.”
  3. Black lipstick equals oil dipstick. Who the hell said that black lipstick looked good on emo kids? It’s terrible. You look like you kissed an octopus and it sprayed ink on your face. Just stop wearing it, please?
  4. Emo music is not really ‘emo’ at all! Emo is the shortening of the word emotional. The music, however, is nothing new. It’s called a sad ballad people, and it has been around ever since the Beatles!
  5. I can’t tell emo kids apart. If you were to line up ten emo kids in a row, you would be staring at the same kid, times ten. I, for the life of me, can’t see how they all want to look like identical twins.

But then again, that’s why I am not emo!

Dressing for Success at Job Fairs

September 6, 2010 by IamMoody

Today’s economy is bad. People are losing their jobs and there simply are not enough jobs to go around. The unemployment rate is at an incredibly high, flocculating right around 9.5%. This means if ten people were standing in a circle, there is a very high possibility that one of those people is unemployed. This has devastating effects for the economy and the individual.

Job fairs are mini-interviews with prospective employers. These fairs feature booths of employers who have openings. The employers hand out information about their company and hope to attract the perfect employee. Potential employees hand out resumes and attempt to impress those who would be their boss and employer.

I was recently at such a job fair with some of my girlfriends who were looking for jobs. We were well dressed and came very prepared. However, this was not the case for everyone who was there. Matter of fact, it was not the case for most of the people who were hoping to get professional jobs at the job fair. If you should go to a job fair and want phone calls for real interviews, might I suggest you follow these ideas and guidelines.

1. Dress for the occasion. I have talked about this before, but it if the situation is formal, then the dress code for the occasion is formal. The job fair is a business event that may land you an interview with the company’s human resource departments. However, this will not be the case if you do not first put some effort into dressing for a business event and if you look unprofessional.
2. Suits are Key. While we just went over dressing for the occasion, this is so important that it needs a second mention. When going to a job interview, dress in a suit. Looking overly sophisticated and intelligence rarely hurts a person in his or her job search.
3. Be clean for the event. The best suit in the world does no good if it is dressed over a dirty body. While it seems unheard of and unfathomable, there were actually people at the job fair who looked like they had not bathed in a week. Please, take the time and take a shower before this event. This includes your hair.
4. Modern Wears Only. Please, even if you still fit in to your outfits from the 1980’s please do not wear that to the job fair. Take a look at your hair, is it modern and flattering? Not sure, as someone you trust, including you stylist. Remember, you want to look like you are respectable and that you are current with the times. You do not want to appear as though you live in the past.
5. Limit your accessories. Remember, this is a professional meeting and these are professional introductions. This means you do not have to wear your most expensive pieces of jewelry or even wear any jewelry. In addition, pick a small purse and pick one that is a solid color and use that purse when attempting to find a job at a job fair.

Getting Back Into Skateboarding to Stay in Shape While Having a Blast

August 31, 2010 by IamMoody

Way back when I was in high school (over ten years ago), I loved to go out and ride my skateboard deck all over town! Those were some truly fantastic times, my friends! There were many blissful moments where you would land a fat trick that you had practicing for eons, and actually pull it off. Tantamount to that was the learning process—where some bump, scrapes, cuts, bruises, and even the occasional broken bone came into the picture. But you bit your lip, ground your teeth and kept riding. That was the skateboarding mantra: Don’t skate if you couldn’t take it.

My friends and I all adhered strictly to our skating ways, and we loved to skate away the days, especially during the summertime. Even though the heat left us dilapidated, and really made it feel like you were riding your skateboard in a sauna, nonetheless we bore the brunt of those hot summer days and kept riding. Now, years later, I have found that my passion and affinity for this sport has been renewed again. Alive it is inside of me, and one huge plus is that I have found skateboarding to be a wonderful cardio workout that is enabling me to keep my body trim and toned, as I enter the third decade of my life on this planet.

Now just getting back into this intense sport, I have realized how shoddy that I have become over the years gone by. But, with each passing day, I am slowly but surely making strides towards getting my skills back to what they once were. This time around, I am wise and always wear protective gear when riding. The last thing I need to deal with is another broken bone and some costly medical bills that mommy and daddy won’t pay for, because I am a full grown adult.

For that matter, X Games rock and sock, too! In my opinion, and for the life of me, I am unable to comprehend how skateboarding is not in the Olympics, but twirling some fancy silk batons and playing volleyball is? Go figure, right? However, that just gives all you avid skateboarders out there even more motivation to skate on.

And skate on we shall!
