January 14, 2010 by IamMoody

oneman2010Do you know the a good man?  You know the one that is engaged in community involvement, intelligence, stays fit, and has a personality.   The “Absolut One Man Minneapolis” is looking for them.

In it’s second year they are kicking the event off with a search.  We assume the best candidates will be those where their good friends recommend they apply.

This event is an amazing opportunity to promote doing the right things for the right reason.  Take a few moments to think of a couple good men in your life and send them to www.onemanminneapolis.com to see if they are up to the challenge.

The real reward is having good men in our community that make a difference os so many levels.

p.s. The deadline to apply is March 5th.

Domestic Abuse Project Update

December 28, 2009 by IamMoody

We received this urgent notice from our friends at Domestic Abuse Project.  Because of our close association it made sense for us to help let people know. Please make sure you call the police if you encounter these people at your door.

DAP has learned of a rash of door-to-door solicitations in Minneapolis naming “Domestic Violence Project” as the fundraising organization. In one situation a donor wrote a check for $10 and her bank statement later showed the check had been altered and cashed in for $70. Often the solicitors are children.

DAP (Domestic Abuse Project) does NOT go by Domestic Violence Project nor does our organization engage in door-to-door fundraising at any time. If you receive any suspicious fundraising requests claiming DAP as a beneficiary please contact Sonia Palmer at spalmer@mndap.org or 612.874.7063 x217.

Most of us have the gift of human compassion and unfortunately at times this can be taken advantage of, especially during holidays. Some scammers try to fool people by using names that are very similar to those of well-known charities. Please don’t let this unfortunate reality close your heart or your wallet. DAP, and other organizations, need your support and your willingness to help those in need inspires us and keeps our mission alive.

As you can imagine, support is so critical to DAP at this time. We are seeing a 16% increase in women seeking help in advocacy and a 26% increase in requests for our therapy program. This stretches an already lean staff and you already know about roof problem…

Secure online donations can be made anytime at www.GiveMN.org or sent directly to:

MSP Flight Attendants
On behalf of the MSP In-Flight Team, we would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season. Your commitment, dedication and holiday spirit emulates compassion for our customers and each other.

We are fortunate to be a part of this team and thank you for the generosity and kindness that you display to those who celebrate life one day at a time. You have gone out of your way to take care of each other and have donated your gifts and talents to improve the quality of life for flight attendants who are loved by many.

Whether you joined us for the Tee Simmons and Heidi Andersen event or earlier this month for Rick Linde and Ricky Thornton, the level of support was amazing. We offer a special thanks to Richard Moody for planning and coordinating each event which has made a difference in the lives of so many people. We have a unique base comprised of flight attendants who genuinely care about each other. Please know that we appreciate everything you do.

In 2009, we exceeded the Pink Boutique goal with a special thanks to Pat May, Richard Moody and everyone who donated their time and merchandise. In addition, we raised several thousand dollars for the Beacon Foundation and Delta Care Fund that we will continue to support in 2010. In 2010 our goal is to: (1) continue to support each other (2) maintain the family atmosphere (3) ensure MSP is a great place to work (4) finish the integration (5) win the JD Power award.
