Personal and Original Accessories

December 22, 2010 by IamMoody

Shades of Purple

Each person is a true original. There is no one who is like the other. The accessories of the individual should be equally as original as the person wearing them. After all, the accessories are pieces that are used to express individuality in an outfit, making it unique. The hard part is finding the accessories that are as individual as the person wearing them.

Diamond Spiral

This is where one begins to separate him or herself from the crowd and avoids the large stores with cookie cutter jewelry and accessories. While name brand pieces are great, most people see those name brand pieces and want them, increasing the chances of running into someone with the same accessories on.

Instead, support the small businesses of America and purchase hand made, and eloquent pieces of jewelry and other accessories. When looking at these pieces, look for those that offer some type of repair warrantee, just in case it should break. This is common with the name brand pieces as well. Also look to see if the business features all unique pieces or if they do the same pieces over and over again.

Vampy Lust

One great website to purchase unique and individualized pieces is Sleepy Dog Jewels. This business sells all unique pieces with no two pieces ever being the same. They also offer the ability to design one’s own jewelry, ensuring that you find the pieces you really want. While this business deals primarily with beaded jewelry, other pieces may be constructed as well.

Chocolate Diamonds

Another great website is Etsy. This website offers a wide variety of businesses that specialize in home made and hand made pieces. This place offers a wide variety of products from a wide variety of crafters. Each crafter has different return policies, but if there is a problem, Etsy works to make it right.

Moody’s NFL Playoff Picture for Football Neophytes: The NFC

December 14, 2010 by IamMoody

As promised, here is part two of this NFL playoff picture, which will detail the top two seeded teams in the NFC. The NFC’s playoff picture is a bit more complicated. As a result, it can be harder to determine the top teams because there are some pretty even top-seeded teams. But in the end, only two can make it to the NFC title game. While Chicago stands out, they also have demonstrated that they can make some bad game time decisions, and that they are not nearly as consistent as we – or they for that matter – would like them to be. So Chicago aside, here are the two teams to watch out for in the NFC this year.

The Atlanta Falcons are finally back and on their feet once again, and seemingly have been able to recoup from their losses to Mr. Vick a few years back. Their quarterback, Matt Ryan, is looking as good as he ever has before and has a consistent 90+ quarterback rating in the 2010/2011 season. But it is unwise for the hawks to pen in a guaranteed NFC championship title just yet, as they will most assuredly have to best the defending Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints, in order to get there.

The New Orleans Saints, led by one of the most prolific passers of all time, Drew Brees, are poised to make a back-to-back Super Bowl run this year. They have all of the weapons, provided that Reggie Bush stays healthy enough to play in the post season this year (he is recovering from a broken fibula, but should be healed in time for the post season), and they have the best arm in the league. Brees drops impossible passes right into the open arms of his wide receivers, and he looks damn good doing it. However, even if the Saints are able to make it to the NFC title game, they will still have a big fight in front of them before they earn a trip to a second Super Bowl.

Moody’s NCAA College Football Major BCS Bowl Game Outlook

December 14, 2010 by IamMoody

It has truly been a whopper of a season in college football that has proven that even if the BCS system is marred – and it is and desperately needs a fairer way of deciding a national champion by incorporating a playoff system – that it can still be sort of right. However, once again we see three undefeated teams in the top three BCS rankings, but only two have been invited to the National Championship game in Glendale, Arizona this year.

National Championship (Fiesta Bowl): Auburn (12-0) vs. Oregon (12-0): The Ducks (Oregon) got what they wanted and well deserved, a trip to Glendale for the title. So did Cam Newton (the quarterback for Auburn) – one of the most spectacular running quarterbacks to ever play in the NCAA, and a landslide Heisman trophy winner – even in spite of recent allegations against him, of which he was cleared of by the NCAA. The Ducks have an impressive no-huddle offense, but they will have to prove it can stack up to Auburn’s mighty defense. The spread is fewer than three points, and analysts expect for this to be a title game for the ages.

Rose Bowl: TCU (12-0) vs. Wisconsin (11-1): Wisconsin has finally paid their dues by pulling off a nearly perfect season. Their reward is a trip to the Rose Bowl, finally. They have been routinely besting every team that they’ve played this year, and look to do so once more against TCU on the national stage. On the other side is TCU, who really was a title consideration this year, as was Wisconsin. But they were overlooked and got the Rose Bowl bid instead, despite having a perfect season. Now they have to prove that last year’s falter against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl was nothing more than a fluke. But they are not playing Boise this year. They are playing a much more capable team that has all the right weapons to hand them another embarrassing bowl game defeat.

Sugar Bowl: Arkansas (10-2) vs. Ohio State (11-1): Arkansas is well deserving of a major BCS bowl game bid. They look every bit the team that can really make a name for themselves this year. They are on a six game winning streak and aim to make that seven against Ohio State. Then there is the other side of the coin: The Buckeyes. Their only loss this year was to Wisconsin, otherwise you would more than likely see Ohio playing for the title. While it’s nice to see Arkansas go to a major bowl game, this matchup looks vastly in favor of a much stronger Ohio State team.

Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech (11-2) vs. Stanford (11-1): When was the last time anyone can recall little Stanford being in the top ten? But they worked very hard, and have a great team this year. They are most deserving of being allotted a long overdue Orange Bowl bid. But they are not nearly as seasoned on the national stage as Virginia Tech is. It will be fun to watch them to see who gains the upper hand. Both teams have won 19 consecutive games in a row this year. It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting Orange Bowls on record.

Moody’s NFL Playoff Picture for Football Neophytes: The AFC

December 13, 2010 by IamMoody

The grind, grunt and commotion of the regular NFL season has nearly reached its climax. And the gravity of the equation is as such: Some teams will be eliminated from the NFL playoffs, and some won’t. There have been some pretty intense games, hard fought battles from start to finish. But in the end, only so many teams can come out on top and make the playoffs. So we will take a brief look at the top seeded AFC and NFC teams in this two-part NFL football wrap-up that should keep you updated on what’s going on the NFL.

AFC Playoff Picture

There are two top teams to be watching in the AFC this year, as the season has demonstrated that these guys know how to pack a serious punch while on the green grass (or turfs). We all know that only one will be invited to the Super Bowl. More than likely, the following top two AFC seeds will be tossing the pigskin around to earn a conference title, bragging rights and another trip to the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots are the number one seed in the AFC. Not surprisingly, their quarterback, Tom Brady, has performed as well as was expected of him this year, and is unequivocally deserving of a possible fifth Super Bowl run during his already spectacular tenure as a pro QB. Keep in mind that this is nothing new to Brady; he already has three Super Bowl rings, and has been there on four separate occasions, with three wins and a perfect season (the only since the 72’ Dolphins) under his belt

The Pittsburg Steelers are ready to show the world that Big Ben is still worth the fat paycheck he gets every year, and that they are still a championship contender. It wasn’t that long ago (fewer than two years) that the Steelers barely etched out a Super Bowl win against the Arizona Cardinals to take home an NFL record six Super Bowl titles for a franchise. However, if they do make it to the AFC championship game, they will have to do battle, more than likely, against Mr. Brady and his legion of Patriots.

Seasonal Depression

December 11, 2010 by IamMoody

Seasonal depression was once thought to simply be a condition in which the individual wanted attention, rather than an actual depression. Through years of study, it has been determined that seasonal depression is really active in people and that it must be addressed by the medical and psychological communities.

Seasonal depression is a condition in which an individual feels more depressed or disinterested in daily behaviors as the weather begins to get colder and the light begins to wane. This condition is serious and it affects a very high number of people. It is one of the most dangerous types of depression because it strikes as people begin their holidays and it often leads to suicides it if it not caught and treated early.

After years of study, they have determined a list of different symptoms that help to diagnose a person as having seasonal depression. This list is not comprehensive and it should be discussed with a qualified medical practitioner before diagnoses can be made.

  1. Sadness for no apparent reason that does not lift. This sadness is often related to the decrease in temperatures and the decrease in sun light.
  2. A lack of energy or restlessness.
  3. Difficulty sleeping or staying asleep.
  4. Changes in sleep patterns.
  5. Aggression or disinterest in normal activities.

If you have any of these symptoms, you may be at risk for seasonal depression. There are some things that can be done to help ward off seasonal depression though. These are not to be used in replace of medical assistance and are simply suggestions. It is important to discuss any depression with a qualified medical advisor.

  1. Go tanning. Tan in a booth that simulates real sun light. Just a small amount of this can help to boost the vitamin D in the body and it can help to ward off depression.
  2. Take time for yourself. Depression often leaves people with a disinterest in caring for them. By taking time and paying attention to how one feels and doing a small bit of pampering, the mood can get better and the depression can be lifted.
  3. Keep a journal. Most people experience depression and do not tell anyone about it, not even themselves. By keeping a journal, the thoughts can be transferred from the brain to the paper, and people can find themselves feeling better about themselves and the depression.
  4. Eat more fruits. Fruits often make people feel better due to the fiber and natural sugars in fruit. Eating tropical fruit can also help people to think of warmer climates and more tropical experiences. This can leave them feeling better and less depressed.
  5. Talk to a doctor. This is an absolute must. By talking with a doctor, he or she can assist you in feeling better through medication or counseling. Just as it is important to take care of the body, it is important to take care of the mind.

Fashionably Checking Your Gmail via Mobile Phone – FINALLY

December 11, 2010 by IamMoody

For all extents and purposes there are really three major email providers that have the best free web-based email services in the world. They really are in this order, respectively, from most popular to least popular: Gmail, Yahoo Mail and AOL. However, Google, the purveyor of the very popular and stylish smart phone, Android, for some reason or another never shifted their focus off running the world’s largest search engine, and as a result, even though they had branded one of the most popular smart phones, no one could access their Gmail account from such phones. I find this to be ironic, to say the least.

However, for all of you fashionably fashionable lovers of smart phones – and the way that your fingers look so coy when dancing across the touch screens, web surfing or watching videos and so much more – rejoice, ye smart phone users, rejoice. A few days ago the Gmail Java application was finally unveiled for smart phones, and the good news: Most mobile phones will be able to use this application, even cruddy and subpar ones, such as the RAZR.

So what does this mean? For one, Yahoo Mail is finally going to get some competition in the mobile phone email sector. For two, you will see tons of people using their smart phones to check their email and connect to world, while sipping on a ten dollar cup of coffee at Starbucks. And last, but not least, it’s more than likely Google’s Xmas present to the smart phone addicted world. Long overdue, if you ask me.

I for one still swear by Yahoo Mail. But then again, what the hell do I know.
