A Hello Kitty Wedding Dress! NO!!!!!

October 5, 2010 by IamMoody

Lady Gaga, Hello Kitty

Yes, that is Lady Gaga dressed in a dress made of Hello Kitty dolls. While this is an extreme example, it is an example ofa newly forming “fashion” craze. This craze includes dressing up as or with images of famous toys! Last week we discussed the use of Muppets as hats, now we’re going to discuss why not to use toys as fashion!

Hello Kitty seems to be the most common character used in dress fashions for adult women. Heads up, this character is for children in United States, and dressing with her on your clothing does not make you appear younger. Instead, it dates you and tells people that you are still behaving like a child even when you are an adult! You do not appear innocent or “youthful” in a child’s dress, rather sad and desperate to regain your childhood.

Hello Kitty Wedding Dress

The idea of character dresses is not a new one. This idea has been around for a while. It has never been taken as seriously as it is now being taken though. It was not uncommon to find children’s dresses made with their favorite characters on it. Now there are wedding dresses with those same characters though, and that’s not fashionable, that’s scary. This addiction to one’s childhood is something that one might feel nostalgic about, but should not take over the wardrobe.  It should definitely be left off the alter.

Now I can understand why someone would want to wear a small piece with their favorite character on it. There is some stress relief to be had by looking at a smiling face of a kitten. This is completely acceptable. A small pin or a small coin purse or something, that’s not too bad. That is even within fashionable acceptance. However, the full out dressing with your favorite character in mind is scary. It denotes an obsession that is not healthy for anyone, definitely not for an adult.

If you have to have your favorite cartoon in your wardrobe, please do it tastefully. A pin, a small clutch or coin purse is sufficient enough to let people know who your favorite character is. You may even find a polo shirt with your character embroidered on it. This is a great way to look stylish and still have that slight playful nature that the character brings about. Do remember that the character is not work appropriate and even a small cartoon character is not acceptable for the work environment. Keep the cartoon characters in your casual, not for work, wardrobe and please, keep it away from your wedding dress.

Kidding Around with the Winter Hat

October 1, 2010 by IamMoody

Winter does a lot of crazy things to a lot of people. The animal hat has to be one of the craziest things that the winter weather does to people. I am certain that at one time, people were actually wearing animals on their head, but these are knit creatures that are made to look like cute animals. These are not furs (which are not part of a good fashion sense either) and they are not hats. These are sock puppets on a person’s head.

There are some people who can get away with this. These people are those who are constantly attempting to entertain a colic plagued child or the baby sitters who are attempting to control 15 children at one time. At that point, wearing an entertaining hat is not a matter of fashion though, but rather one of survival. The only other people who can wear this hat and get away with it is the 5 year old child. The 6 year old child can’t get away with this.

If you do not fit this set of conditions, please, please, please do not wear this silly hat! Button eyes and noses are not something that any adult should choose to wear out and about. Dressing cute and innocent is understandable, dressing in murdered Muppets though? There is no fashionable aspect about these hats and they will only make an adult look silly. Imagine dressing in a suit, a nice jacket and the animal hat. Not quite the affect you were going for, is it.

I know hats are supposed to be functional. The hat should keep your head warm and dry. There are many other hats that can do this without making you look like a fool. Spend the money and buy yourself a cute hat, not the animal hat! Wait! Better yet, save some money and buy a cute hat, these animal hats are expensive as well as hideous!

Rock the Retro Headbands!

October 1, 2010 by IamMoody

Fashion has a tendency to go round and round in patterns. The 1920 and 30 hairstyles are back! This is large and flashy jewelry and hair fashions. These pieces include large ribbons, feathers and ample jewels. There is nothing plain in the retro headband or hair accessory. These pieces are all flash and fancy, guaranteed to draw the eye with its flash.

There are a few different retro hair accessories on the market right now. The most common is the head band. This is an easy to use hair piece that can be used with hair of any thickness and length. Simply place the band over the head and wear. The comb, like the one featured in the picture, requires long hair and thick or curly hair. Hats and pins are also big right in their retro styles.

While often times a specific designer or color will be fashionable, with the retro style hair products and accessories, it is the shape and design that is favored over a specific designer or color. There is a wider variety of colors and materials available now than there ever was when the original style took off. The use of features, rhinestones and cloth has been supplemented with metal and lace as well.

When purchasing the piece, make sure it will stay comfortably on your head. Some of the metal bands tend to cut into the head and cause head aches. The combs can be difficult for a person to use if their hair is short or fine. Too heavy of a piece or one that is uncomfortable to wear will only become a distraction to the wearer, rather than a fashion accessory for that individual. The piece should be tried on before purchasing to make sure it looks good with the person’s hair, eyes and skin and that it is not too tight or too heavy.

Just because the piece is beautiful does not mean it works for everyone. However, the flash of a fancy hair accessory can make a bland outfit pop and help to turn a day outfit into a night outfit. Match this with some retro jewelry and you are sure to make a bright and bold statement when out with friends. Take these retro pieces and rock them!

Sweating the Sweater

October 1, 2010 by IamMoody

WomanSweaters are an essential aspect of winter. They are warm and fluffy, the symbol of comfort and warmth when the winter flakes come falling down. However, the sweat er is often too big and bulky for most people, making them look heavier than they actually are. How does one go about balancing the sweater’s bulk with the sweater’s warmth? Well, by picking the right sweater to wear.

When picking the sweater, make sure it fits you correctly. The shoulders for the sweater should not be off your shoulders. The sleeves should not go past your hands and the length should not be overly long. A sweater that is too big will not make you appear smaller, just messier.

If a larger sweater is worn, it is important to balance the top and bottom out to ensure that you appear long and lean, while still wearing a heavy and large sweater. This can be done by pairing the sweater with a tighter jean or dress pant. Leggings can be worn with the sweater too, although they are often too cold for the winter weather.

Color and material is also very important when considering the sweater. The darker sweater can hide a lot frump, while a light colored sweater can draw more attention and it may make you appear bigger. The bright colors can help to bring color to the winter weather. Red is a great color for winter. The Christmas and winter prints are not necessarily stylish or fashionable, although moderate winter decorations on a sweater can be cute. Whole Christmas scenes should be avoided.

The material for the sweater is also very important. A very fuzzy sweater can make you appear bigger. However the smoother and softer sweaters can be very soft and provide you with a smoother and softer look. This can help to keep you warm and sexy through out the winter.

The Office Chair Workout in Three Easy Steps

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

According to the US government, the number one New Year’s resolution for 2010 was in fact weight loss. This really should not come as any surprise, however. This is because Americans tend to be the fattest people, per capita, in the world. With more than 40% of our society sporting bulging tummies, or what many people call the ‘spare tire’ around their midsections, one can easily denote that we all could use a little bit of working out here and there. Then comes our busy days, the daily hectic schedules that we must endure, and many of us commute to and from work, usually working in offices, or at least for a great deal of US workers. So where do you find time to workout? How do you enjoy weight loss without getting overtired? I have a simple way for you to tone your abs—and all from your office chair, no tummy tuck required.

  1. The office chair ab crunch. This one is so simple that you will laugh. Sit up straight with proper posture. Then squeeze your abs as you lean in and hold it, and count to three slowly. Ten reps of ten per day will make that fat trim away,
  2. The office chair side bar love handle destroyer. Love handles are those annoying pockets of fat around our sides, called that because people can hold onto them when they are making love. Use your office chair to get rid of them. Outstretch your arm so it is elongated and the slowly crunch to side and hold, count to three and repeat. Ten reps per side, per day, makes love handles get a divorce from your body.
  3. The circular super ab crunch. Lastly, pretend you are dancing while you are sitting in your office chair. Squeeze your tummy muscles hard as you make circular motions. You will feel the burn after about twenty reps. Do this three times per day, and you will really see results fast.
