Top US New Year Resolutions in 2011

January 15, 2011 by IamMoody

If you have ever wondered what the top New Year Resolutions were by and far for citizens of the United States, look no further than here! Every year, the top resolutions are submitted to particular sites on the net, and national surveys are also conducted to conclude what the top ten resolutions are for that particular New Year. The same can be said for this New Year in 2011. Perhaps a few of these top ten New Year resolutions apply to your situation.

Let’s take a gander at them, shall we?

  1. Weight loss. This one really shouldn’t come as any shocker to any American. That’s because we are more obese than any other nation, per capita, in the world.
  2. Becoming more organized and punctual. We are always so rush-and-go in the US that often we’d forget our own heads if they weren’t attached to our bodies.
  3. Saving more money. It’s crazy how fast things can really add up. That $5 cup of coffee, that $10 fast food meal. Before you know it, your bank account is hollering at you in dismay.
  4. Happiness. Perhaps this can be denoted as the lifelong quest for all human beings ever since we first evolved into Homo sapiens. Not surprisingly, it’s #4.
  5. Getting back into shape stay and staying healthy. People are living longer and longer, as we all embrace healthier lifestyles that promote longevity and wellbeing.
  6. Learning or developing new skills. Most Americans desire to be well educated and diverse. We also desire to learn new skills, such as a hobby like a musical instrument or a foreign language.
  7. Quit smoking. Seemingly, this one has dropped on the list to #7. One has a good mind to think that this is because less people are smoking thanks to education and insane taxation on all tobacco products.
  8. Helping friends, family and those who are less fortunate. It’s true: Americans donate more money to charity and beneficial causes than anywhere else in the world. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet can attest to that.
  9. Finding our one ‘True Love.’ In par with reason #4, we all desire to be happy. For most people this encompasses falling in love.
  10. Allocating more time to spend with our family and loved ones. The busyness of our daily schedules is only ever so permitting. So this makes sense that many of us want to spend more time with those whom we care for the most.

Five Easy Ways to Balance Detox in the New Year

January 4, 2011 by IamMoody

With the onset of the New Year arrives our New Year’s Resolutions. For many of us, there will be tons of different goals that we have set that we aim to pursue during this New Year, and many of us will wholeheartedly strive to achieve them. A few of the top New Year’s Resolutions include weight loss, quitting smoking, eating healthier foods, improving skincare regiments, and bettering ourselves personally, physically, spiritually and mentally. One great way to get started on this path to newly found enlightenment is by detoxing from all of those toxins that your body has built up over the year prior. This list of easy ways to detox can help you more easily achieve your personal goals and aspirations for 2011.

1. Religiously drink water. Water is not only great for you, but you should be drinking your weight, in ounces, daily. This can help to purge toxins from your body, improve weight loss efforts and help you along the way.
2. Check out spa body wraps for improved weight loss and detoxification. There are many different body wraps that you can get that can greatly speed up your detoxification efforts, and many aid in weight loss, too.
3. Time to get back to the gym. Most people take a break from working out and from the gym over the holidays. Start back up slow, and work your way into a solid regiment once again.
4. Eat more vegetables. Your parents always encouraged you to do so, now you have to be the boss with the whip. Eat your greens; they help you detox, they are loaded with good stuff and rich with antioxidants.
5. Look into yoga and fitness classes. If the gym is not your friend, check out some dance fitness classes or yoga classes. They are both excellent ways to drop the pounds and detox.

Fashion Weight loss Tips 101: Antioxidant-Rich Ingredients to Trim Your Waistline

December 11, 2010 by IamMoody

Here are some more great fashion weight loss tips 101 for you. We all know that antioxidants are the new wonder foods. Sometimes these can be derived from fresh fruits or veggies that we consume daily. Other times they can be found in extracts from certain plants or seeds. The best part is that by introducing antioxidants to your diet, you can not only purge your body of toxins, but you can greatly boost your metabolic rate, your energy levels and your overall health and vitality. In short: Here are some great antioxidant-rich elements that you should consider adding to your daily intake.

Acai Berry: Is one of the World’s most powerful antioxidants. This extract has been shown to provide increased energy levels, improved sexual performance, improved digestion, detoxification, high fiber content, improved skin appearance, improved heart health, improved sleep, reduction of cholesterol levels and the ability to combat free radicals; cells that cause cancer.

Ashwagandha root: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an herb that is used as a general tonic by helping the body adapt to stress. Additionally, this herb has been shown to possess powerful antioxidant activity as well as an ability to support a healthy immune system by showing strong antiviral properties.

Grapeseed Extract: Is a powerful antioxidant that contains polyphenol, which is a resveratrol, that has been shown to interfere with cancer cell growth and proliferation, as well as induce apoptosis, among a variety of potential chemopreventive effects.

Red Raspberry Seed: Is a powerful antioxidant that contains Ellagic acid which has been shown to have some anti-cancer properties. It can act as an antioxidant, and has been found to cause cell death in cancer cells in the laboratory. In other laboratory studies, ellagic acid seems to reduce the effect of estrogen in promoting growth of breast cancer cells in tissue cultures. There are also reports that it may help the liver to break down or remove some cancer-causing substances from the blood.

Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: Dealing With Holiday Weight Gain (3 More Tips)

December 1, 2010 by IamMoody

We have already made it through Thanksgiving, and I am sure that many of us have packed on some extra pounds of flab that we may not have wished to, and whenever we take a gander in the mirror, it stares convincingly back at us. The reality is that the dizzyingly exciting clamber of the holiday season is one that also perpetuates our marriage and ongoing love affair with foods. In this case: Calorie rich foods that tend to also be very high in fats. A well known fact is that most Americans, on average, tend to store around 5-10 pounds of excess fat each holiday season because of our rich tastes in holiday fares. Over the years gone by, one can easily understand why we get such large midsections from this endeavor. Heck, a few years of this and a person could find themselves forty or fifty pounds heavier, if they don’t do something about it. However, there are some simple fashion weight loss tips that you can incorporate, so that whenever Xmas rolls around you are not storing gallons of extra gravy in your tummy.

To Reiterate From my Last Post on This:

  1. Taking a break from work does not mean that you are on vacation from working out. That is as pure and simple as it gets. A lot of people will forgo their workout routine when they are on paid leave from work over the holidays. The easy solution: Don’t stop working out just because you get some nice vacation days off from work.
  2. Stick to your New Year’s Resolutions. Did you know that for ten years and running the number one resolution for Americans (well at least in the top five anyways) has been weight loss? The problem is that we often don’t follow through with this philosophy. So keep at it and you will be able to stay in shape.
  3. Use simple food tricks to avoid gaining weight over the holidays. Some experts advise that you can trick yourself by filling up on hearty and wholesome fares, like freshly cut veggies, prior to attending those lavish holiday dinners where you know you will have trouble refraining from eating a few slices of pie.

Here are some more helpful weight loss tips…

  1. Get a workout buddy. Fitness experts swear by having a friend to help you workout. With the buddy system you can work to motivate one another, you can be there for each other, you can act as a drill sergeant for one another, and you can share low fat recipes that are delicious. Why go it alone when you can get some help from a friend and lose weight together?
  2. Buy yourself a gym membership for Xmas. Seriously, if you are ready to lose weight, why not make that full commitment? Sign a one year contract at your local gym. This way you are mentally committing to a year of working out, or you will pay for something that you never use.
  3. Rethink the way that you eat. Incorporate raw foods and antioxidants into your diet, or look into nutritional supplements that do this. I found one called the Perfect Breakfast that’s great for this. Check it out at www.theperfectbreakfast.com – it’s clinically proven to help you lose weight, and it’s affordable and effective, too.

Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: How to Easily Avoid the Typical 5-10 Pound Holiday Weight Gain Fiasco

November 19, 2010 by IamMoody

Did you know that according to experts – on average – most people in the United States gain anywhere from five to ten pounds of excess flab over the holiday season? That’s counting Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Year’s Eve. Then, come January, why do you think that weight loss is the top resolution for people starting out the next New Year, nearly ten years and running? Because we all feel a little bit plumper, and we all, for the most part, have packed on a few pounds as we were unwrapping gifts, sipping on eggnog and enjoying jovial family get-togethers. However, there are some simple tricks that you can embrace that can allow for you to thwart this common holiday fat blunder.

Simple Tricks to Avoid Common Holiday Weight Gains

  • Weight loss experts advise that you fill up on hearty, healthy and wholesome fares before attending big holiday dinners, like Thanksgiving for example. If you eat some raw veggies with a low-fat dip, prior to embarking to Uncle Dave’s house, you will ingest far less fats over the yuletide season.
  • Don’t pack your plate or indulge in pie eating contests. The food that is served over the holidays is notoriously fatty and oh’ so delish. Most people consume around 5,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner alone. Reality check: Eat normal portions, and you won’t have to worry.
  • Just because you are on vacation from school or work does not mean you are on vacation from working out. According to fitness gurus this is a very common no-no. People stop working out because they are on vacation. Then couple this with the high calorie intake, and many people end up spoiling their diets. Keep working out. Eat normal portions. And enjoy a slimmer you come January.

More Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: Three Easy Ways to Banish Fats

November 5, 2010 by IamMoody

I am back, and I have some more fashion weight loss tips to offer up to one and all. These are simple things, little changes that you can make with your eating habits that can truly offer you some serious results. They are really easy to do, and if you are serious about obtaining that waistline that you so desire, these changes are a must for all dieters who are seeking to successfully lose weight.

Choose Lower Fat Versions of the Same Foods

The easiest way, perhaps, to really cut down on the fatty foods you are eating can be accomplished by simply buying the same foods in low-fat versions. Many food producers are now making low-fat and light variants of the food products that you have grown to love. By simply changing some items on your grocery shopping list to these foods, you can greatly reduce your intake of fats and calories.

Substitute Fatty Oils and Butters for Healthier Alternatives

We are what we eat and the way we cook our foods reflects that. Instead of using fat loaded butters and cooking oils (like lard; yuck!), opt for oils like virgin olive oil instead. By making simple changes like this, you can greatly reduce the overall fat and calorie content of the foods that you are eating. Additionally, instead of frying foods, broiling them or baking them, try grilling meats, poultry and fish over an open flame. This way much of the fat is zapped by the flames licking at the meats as they cook.

Swap Junk Food and Fast Food for Heartier Fares

Junk food and fast food are some of the worst and fattiest of foods that you can consume. It’s no mystery why they are so bad for us. They are loaded with saturated fats and cholesterol and tend to be very high in calories. If you are trying to lose weight, chances are fair that you already have some undesirable pockets of fat on your body. When you ingest such fatty and calorie-rich foods daily, the first place that the fat train heads is to those areas—where the pointy fat cells mingle with their other fatty friends. Rather, make a wholesome sandwich, or eat cuts of veggies with a low-fat dipping sauce. Or enjoy great meals, like grilled chicken and white rice with a side of veggies.
