Holiday Charity Party: The Link

December 1, 2010 by IamMoody

The mission of The Link is to build a supportive community network that links youth and their families to their inner strength through life skills, education, advocacy, supportive housing, and a dynamic network of social services to tranform lives.

The Link is one of the few charities that actually require references in order to receive assistance through the program. This elite program assists youth who are difficult to reach or who are homeless. These youths come under the attention and care of this noble program if there is concern about the overall condition of the child or if the child has been prone to difficulties or trouble at school.

Assisting over 3,300 children each year is a difficult venture, however the professionals at The Link strive to provide each child with the assistance that he or she needs in order to live a successful life. They work with the probation officers, social workers and teachers of each student to find the solutions that are needed by the child. This combination of different agencies and professionals helps to ensure the best results for all those involved.

IamMoody is one of the proud supporters of The Link and the work that this community charity does to improve the youth and the future of this great city and nation. Through the IamMoody Holiday Charity Party, they will help to raise the much needed money that this non-profit service needs to continue working and helping the youth.

This charity party will help to inform the public about the different works that The Link provides for the children in the region and it helps to raise the much needed money for this and the other 2 charities that will be supported through the money raised. Be sure to attend this fantastic event and enjoy the festivities knowing that you are making a difference in the world.

The Death of the Bladed Razor

December 1, 2010 by IamMoody

I have always wondered why men are still shaving using bladed razors. You know…those razors that cost a ton of money in the stores that are used with shaving cream. I use to be one of those men. I used to shave every day with a blade against my throat. It cost me a fortune. I had to shell out weekly sums for the most premium blades on the market, because nothing else worked well for me. I had to also pay for shaving cream. Then I needed aftershave or my face would sting all day long. When I factored the costs I was stomaching to shave myself daily, it really did add up in the end to some pretty pennies. Now there are even some triple-bladed razors that are on the market, which cost even more money. If you were to factor the annual costs of using these, the numbers can be quite large at the end of the day.

About two years ago I started using an electric razor—this teeny tiny one that my mother gave to me for Xmas, which I will refrain from using the name brand of it as I am not trying to plug this product. What I am trying to plug, however, is the fact that electric razors are seemingly the way for me to go. No more cutting myself when shaving. No more tidbits of toilet paper helping razor cuts clot. No more aftershave. No more atrocious monthly shaving costs. In fact, I just replaced my electric razor with a new one, as it finally got dull after TWO YEARS. For about $100 for two years, I notice almost no difference. It shaves my face as smooth as can be. Just like those costly blades did. Does this mean that eventually the bladed razor as we know it will meet its demise?

I have a good mind to think that it does.

Holiday Charity Party: Sabathani Community Center

December 1, 2010 by IamMoody

IamMoody is concerned about the families in its region. The people at IamMoody know that without family, there are no events and there is no true happiness. This is one of the reasons that IamMoody has decided to support the Sabathani Community Center as one of the three charities that they are donating to through the Holiday Charity Party.

This party has been happily occurring for the past 20 years, and each year, several worthy charities receive much needed funds to help the charity give to the community for another year. This year, Sabathani Community Center is one of those charities who will benefit from IamMoody just as the community benefits from Sabathani Community Center.

The Sabathani Community Center, located in the former Bryan Junior High School building, offers services to the school age, the parents and the seniors in the region. There are several offices and community services that are available through the building, with each one supporting the mission of the Sabathani Community Center.

Currently the Sabathani Community Center assists 24,000 families in the southern Minneapolis regions. With over 40 offices in the single complex, there is ample assistance for any family that needs it. It is only through the assistance of the community that the center has been able to function for the past 40 years, and it is hoped that with the assistance of the charity events like the one that IamMoody is hosting that the center can continue to function for at least another 40 years.

Be sure to attend the charity event, Holiday Charity Party, and lend your support for this amazing charity and the 2 other charities that will be given the support that they need during these difficult economic times. Without charities like the Sabathani Community Center, the families that need the help will flounder, and the elderly who have no one else to turn to would be forgotten. This cannot be allowed to happen, and it is through your support that it will not happen.

Holiday Charity Party: Domestic Abuse Project

December 1, 2010 by IamMoody

IamMoody supports the charities in the area that do amazing things for amazing people. Once again they are having a Holiday Charity Party. There are 3 charities that will be supported through the festivities that IamMoody will be hosting. One of these charities is the Domestic Abuse Project. This worthy cause works to reduce the potential for domestic violence without eliminating the relationship between the man and woman like so many other domestic abuse shelters do.

This program is a dedicated program that works to stop the violence as it occurs and prevent it from happening again while still supporting the family. This is especially helpful for those women who have children with the man who is abusing them. The program was developed as a response to the women who requested a way to maintain the relationship, but make it better and healthier.

Over the past 30 years, the Domestic Abuse Project has helped thousands of people, couples and individuals, work through the violence and discover how to live in relative harmony. They have taught that no one wants violence in their world and people have to learn how to protect themselves from the violence, as well as how to redirect their anger in a healthier manner.

Unlike other domestic abuse programs, the Domestic Abuse Project does not treat the man as a villain. Instead it recognizes that the violence is a learned behavior and one that can be changed through counseling. This helps to keep families together and it also helps to provide the men with a healthy outlet for their anger. The overall results include healthier and happier families and experiences.

These services are expensive to provide to the public. With this being a community service, the prices for the therapy sessions to the public is very little. This does not mean that the organization is able to afford to remain in operation. Without the support of the general public, this organization may be forced to close its doors. Through events like the IAmMoody Holiday Charity Party, the organization is able to keep its doors open and provide the assistance that the families desperately need to be happy and safe families for all those involved.

Way Behind on Your Xmas Shopping List? Top Three Easy Gift Ideas

November 19, 2010 by IamMoody

Xmas is just around the corner, and Black Friday is not very far away either. Sometimes it can be easy to get lost in the fray of the craziness that ensues during this typically very busy time of the year. And many people I know for that matter have yet to even begin their Xmas gift shopping endeavors; much less do they have their Xmas shopping list in order – like yours truly over here. With that in mind, there are some easy and simplified tricks to getting around the holiday shopping mayhem. If you find yourself in a pickle for gift ideas, or you just have not had the spare time to get some real shopping done, don’t fret—there are some really simple ways to beat around this bush and win every time.

Three Easy Xmas Gift Ideas

  1. Gift cards or cash are easy ways out. Most people won’t bicker about getting handed some sweet hunks of change as their Xmas gift. This way they can buy whatever they feel like, or pocket the money for a rainy day. Gift cards make great holiday presents as well, and you can easily find them at nearly any retail outlet.
  2. Designer cologne or perfume gifts sets. You still have plenty of time to shop online and find designer cologne or perfume gift sets for pretty cheap, and for some rather impressive Black Friday bargains to boot. They make great gifts, they are easy to wrap and they usually come with an assortment of desirable goodies, too.
  3. Gift baskets are timeless. And during this time of the year you can find tons of them all over the place online. The bargains are fairly decent, and the selection is breathtaking and creative.

Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: How to Easily Avoid the Typical 5-10 Pound Holiday Weight Gain Fiasco

November 19, 2010 by IamMoody

Did you know that according to experts – on average – most people in the United States gain anywhere from five to ten pounds of excess flab over the holiday season? That’s counting Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Year’s Eve. Then, come January, why do you think that weight loss is the top resolution for people starting out the next New Year, nearly ten years and running? Because we all feel a little bit plumper, and we all, for the most part, have packed on a few pounds as we were unwrapping gifts, sipping on eggnog and enjoying jovial family get-togethers. However, there are some simple tricks that you can embrace that can allow for you to thwart this common holiday fat blunder.

Simple Tricks to Avoid Common Holiday Weight Gains

  • Weight loss experts advise that you fill up on hearty, healthy and wholesome fares before attending big holiday dinners, like Thanksgiving for example. If you eat some raw veggies with a low-fat dip, prior to embarking to Uncle Dave’s house, you will ingest far less fats over the yuletide season.
  • Don’t pack your plate or indulge in pie eating contests. The food that is served over the holidays is notoriously fatty and oh’ so delish. Most people consume around 5,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner alone. Reality check: Eat normal portions, and you won’t have to worry.
  • Just because you are on vacation from school or work does not mean you are on vacation from working out. According to fitness gurus this is a very common no-no. People stop working out because they are on vacation. Then couple this with the high calorie intake, and many people end up spoiling their diets. Keep working out. Eat normal portions. And enjoy a slimmer you come January.
