Handling Valentine’s Day Blues

February 15, 2011 by IamMoody

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day of happiness and love. This is when people send time with their loved one and do something romantic together. This is one of the hottest days for jewelry purchases, roses and chocolate. Restaurants will be packed, as will the movies. However, not everyone has that special someone in their lives to spend this Valentine’s Day.

Not having anyone to share Valentine’s Day with can cause some people to experience a depression. They may even feel as though they are the only one who does not have anyone to spend the holiday with. However, there are many people who lack a special someone to spend this commercial love holiday with. For these individuals, there are some things that can be done to pass this time alone and maybe even find someone to spend next Valentine’s Day with.

One of my favorite activities was to go out to some of the bars that featured the “Meet Markets”. These were activities geared specifically for single individuals where they get to go out, drink and dance, and even potentially meet that special individual. These activities are ideal because they get everyone together, take the pressure out of introducing ourselves and they even provide an activity.

Another thing I like to do when I don’t have a date for the lover’s holiday is to indulge in a girl’s night in. This typically includes ice cream, chick flicks and make-overs. However, this is a very gender specific idea. Men would indulge in a man night, watching sports or what ever else men like to do when they get together. (Sorry, never actually been invited to a man’s night in/out, so I have no idea.)

No matter what I did on Valentine’s Day, I make sure I had fun. Just because I was single, it did not mean that I sat around and sulked. It just meant that I had to try a little harder to ensure that I was not left out in the activities and the fun that is the holiday. You shouldn’t either.

37 Seconds to Change Your Life

February 15, 2011 by IamMoody

Now, I’m not someone who normally tries to change people’s life or tell anyone how to live. After all, what do I know about your life? What do I know about anyone’s life other than my own life? However, every now and again I stumble across something that touches me and makes me want to share it with others. This is one of those rare things that I came across that I think needs to be shared.

Now, I’m not going to bore you with the whole story although I will give you a link to the website. Here is the gist of the story though. There are 2 men; they are in a hospice care center, getting ready to die. One of them is able to sit up and look out the window, but the other one is forced to stay on his back the entire time and is not able to look out the window.

The man who is able to sit up tells the man who is unable to what he sees. He describes beautiful summer days, parades and other events. The man who could not see out the window sat and enjoyed the stories, closing his eyes and imagining the story. Unfortunately, this was not to last as the man who peered out the window died one morning.

After a few days, the other man asked to be moved next to the window. As he was laying there, he convinced the nurses to help him into a sitting position. When he peered through the window, he found nothing but a brick wall. He was shocked and told the nurses what the other man said was there. The nurse looked at him, smiled and informed him that the other man was blind.

The moral of this story is that one can make any situation into something else. This includes a bad situation, such as being blind and dying. While people are busy worried about every negative problem, it is important to visualize the positive, be thankful for what one has and create new reality for your self.

While I don’t know if this story touches you or not, I know it touched me and it has helped me through some more challenging things that have come into my life. I think this story will continue to help me by reminding me about the different things that I have to look forward to and how to best see the good in every situation.

As promised, here is the post that I found. I don’t know if this is the original posting or not, but it is where I got the story. http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2XyoTS/manifestmastermindblog.com/2009/08/changing-view/

Learning Fashion

February 15, 2011 by IamMoody

As with just about everything else that people can learn about, fashion can be taught through the use of various games. These games are not always geared towards children. Some of these games and programs are geared specifically for adults and help the individual look his or her best no matter what.

These different games and different programs come in a wide variety of mediums. This can include cell phones, game systems and lap tops. These different programs allow people to upload or take photographs of how the individual looks, and then evaluates the image and allows for the changing of clothing and color digitally. These images come with scores that show how good or how bad one looks.

What is really nice with these different programs is that they are not generally programmed to act on the idea of fads. This helps to ensure that one does not look dated, but rather looks more appropriate for his or her age and body type. The program works to match the appropriate color pallets, clothing shape and general appearance of the outfit.

With these programs and games, anyone can become a true fashion professional. These programs help to convey the most fitting images possible and allow one to evaluate not only themselves but those around them as well. This can make even the person that people ask last about fashion the person that they ask first.

Healthy, Sexy Nails with These 5 Easy Tips

February 15, 2011 by IamMoody

So you want your nails to look healthy, sexy, and vibrant and to be strong and not have those nasty white spots – which is caused by zinc deficiency – huh? Well the good news is that there are some really simple tricks and healthy nail tips that you can easily incorporate into your daily regiment that can allow for you to more easily enjoy the nails that you so desire. Alongside of taking care of your nails the best that you can, there are some easy ways to keep them looking gorgeous. Our nails are a very noticeable external amenity. So do them justice and take good care of them with these simple healthy nail tips.

  1. Hydrate your nails every evening. That’s right! Nails need some hydrating in order to look their best. An easy way to accomplish this is to massage small amounts of petroleum jelly or castor oil into the cuticles before you go to bed each night.
  2. Eat more eggs and drink more milk. A glass of milk and a hard boiled egg once per day will allow for your body to absorb more zinc. This helps keep your nails strong and healthy, and allows for you to avoid those white spots, which are usually attributed to a zinc deficiency.
  3. Vitamin B and biotin for healthy, super strong nails. Some recent studies suggest that persons who consume biotin and vitamin B have nails that are as much as 50% stronger than persons who don’t.
  4. Toss out polish removers that contain acetone or formaldehyde, which can cause some serious damage to your nails. Instead, use a milder remover that contains acetate.
  5. Always wear strong rubber gloves when cleaning. Those industrial-grade cleaners can wreak havoc on your delicate nails.

Are You Metrosexual? Take the Metrosexual Quiz & Find Out

February 11, 2011 by IamMoody

A newer term that has been coined to define certain types of men is called “Metrosexual.” It’s actually a variant of heterosexual that means a well-groomed and fashionably sensible adult male. For some reason unbeknownst to me, this term is often misplaced and misused, and really misunderstood. Adjectively, it can easily be misconstrued when it really is a harmless coining of a common number of males that share a dichotomy for good fashion and grooming habits.

To better apprise you as to just what this term means, I pulled the actual definition from Merriam-Webster.com. They define the word metrosexual as, “a usually urban heterosexual male given to enhancing his personal appearance by fastidious grooming, beauty treatments, and fashionable clothes.”

So now that you know what it means, are you ready to take the metrosexual quiz and find out if you quantify as a member of this unique sect of fashion conscious men?

  1. Do you use a flatiron to ready your hair in the morning, or do you always blow dry you hair and have to use some sort of product to make sure it lays as desired?
  2. Is your closet filled with name brand and designer clothing that is often tighter-fitting and glamorous?
  3. Do you have to accessorize with every outfit in order to attain the look that you desire?
  4. Do you feel undressed or not presentable when you are not wearing the clothing and accessories that you desire, or your hair is not done in the manner that you wish?
  5. Do you frequent day spas to get facials, waxing or any other form of beautifying treatments for men?
  6. Are your nails manicured?
  7. Do you use anti-aging beauty products for men?
  8. Are you hooked on taking natural supplements that enhance beauty?

If you answered yes to four or more of these questions, chances are fair that you are metrosexual. So now what? Keep on keeping on, that’s what! I answered yes to seven of them, and am a happily pronounced metrosexual.

Isn’t about time that men stopped being slobs?

Enjoy These Beverages Daily for Healthy, Moisturized Hair

February 6, 2011 by IamMoody

I am back and I have some more hair tips for you that can easily help you to avoid dry and dull looking hair that is caused by dehydration. Sometimes the answer to keeping your hair moisturized is actually a whole heck of a lot easier than we may think that it would be at first glance. The reality is that our hair health will often reflect the type of diet that we keep. So your hair will also benefit from drinking different types of beverages. Similar to that old time adage of we are what we eat, our hair is also what we drink. Fortunately, there are some tasty beverages that you can enjoy adding to your daily regiment that will allow for you to enjoy increased hair moisture.

Juices, veggie drinks and fruit smoothies: These drinks not only taste great and deliver daily allowances of our recommended fruit and veggies, but they are great for your hair, too. Juices, veggie drinks and smoothies are jam packed with helpful minerals and vitamins for great hair. Just watch the calories on the smoothies, because they can be high-calorie beverages.

Water should be a staple for you. Our bodies are made up of mostly water. So no surprise here that our hair is made up from this primary ingredient to life as well. Drinking filtered water is a great way to keep your entire body hydrated, especially your hair. Sometimes something as simple as drinking your recommended daily amounts of water each day can do the trick for keeping your hair healthy and moisturized.

Teas that are loaded with antioxidants will do wonders for your hair. One popular tea that comes right to mind is green tea. Antioxidants have been shown to eradicate harmful free-radicals; damaged cells that contribute to the signs of aging and disease. These same cells also play culprit to aging hair. So drink up, it’s tea time!
