Fashion Weight Loss Tips 101: Dealing With Holiday Weight Gain (3 More Tips)
We have already made it through Thanksgiving, and I am sure that many of us have packed on some extra pounds of flab that we may not have wished to, and whenever we take a gander in the mirror, it stares convincingly back at us. The reality is that the dizzyingly exciting clamber of the holiday season is one that also perpetuates our marriage and ongoing love affair with foods. In this case: Calorie rich foods that tend to also be very high in fats. A well known fact is that most Americans, on average, tend to store around 5-10 pounds of excess fat each holiday season because of our rich tastes in holiday fares. Over the years gone by, one can easily understand why we get such large midsections from this endeavor. Heck, a few years of this and a person could find themselves forty or fifty pounds heavier, if they don’t do something about it. However, there are some simple fashion weight loss tips that you can incorporate, so that whenever Xmas rolls around you are not storing gallons of extra gravy in your tummy.
To Reiterate From my Last Post on This:
- Taking a break from work does not mean that you are on vacation from working out. That is as pure and simple as it gets. A lot of people will forgo their workout routine when they are on paid leave from work over the holidays. The easy solution: Don’t stop working out just because you get some nice vacation days off from work.
- Stick to your New Year’s Resolutions. Did you know that for ten years and running the number one resolution for Americans (well at least in the top five anyways) has been weight loss? The problem is that we often don’t follow through with this philosophy. So keep at it and you will be able to stay in shape.
- Use simple food tricks to avoid gaining weight over the holidays. Some experts advise that you can trick yourself by filling up on hearty and wholesome fares, like freshly cut veggies, prior to attending those lavish holiday dinners where you know you will have trouble refraining from eating a few slices of pie.
Here are some more helpful weight loss tips…
- Get a workout buddy. Fitness experts swear by having a friend to help you workout. With the buddy system you can work to motivate one another, you can be there for each other, you can act as a drill sergeant for one another, and you can share low fat recipes that are delicious. Why go it alone when you can get some help from a friend and lose weight together?
- Buy yourself a gym membership for Xmas. Seriously, if you are ready to lose weight, why not make that full commitment? Sign a one year contract at your local gym. This way you are mentally committing to a year of working out, or you will pay for something that you never use.
- Rethink the way that you eat. Incorporate raw foods and antioxidants into your diet, or look into nutritional supplements that do this. I found one called the Perfect Breakfast that’s great for this. Check it out at www.theperfectbreakfast.com – it’s clinically proven to help you lose weight, and it’s affordable and effective, too.
Affordable Age-Defying Tips for Men & Women
The reality is that we all will grow older. That’s just part of life. However, this does not necessarily mean that we can’t feel like we are younger – or look like it – as we age. Thank goodness there is a plethora of excellent ways that we can retain our youth these days, and no, I am not talking about plastic surgery or anything drastic like that whatsoever. What I am talking about are some simple and surefire age defying tips that men and women can use (and are using), which can easily help you to turn back that aging clock in your youthful favor. To better apprise you of where I am coming from, allow for me to divulge some tips about anti aging that can come in handy for nearly anyone and everyone.
Eat an antioxidant rich diet. You are what you eat, plain and simple. The best way to ensure that the oxygen we are breathing to sustain life has minimal impact on the aging process is by incorporating antioxidant rich foods or supplements into our daily diet. This is so easy during the modern day and age in which we live. Simply look online for such supplements and you will be wowed.
Take better care of your skin. Skin care is essential if you really want to retain your youth. As we grow older the amount of collagen – what makes are skin supple and youthful – that our bodies produce diminishes. However, certain skin creams and supplements can boost it back up again, naturally.
Detoxify regularly. Over the years we grow older we will ingest and breathe in a myriad of toxins. This can really speed up the aging process. The quick solution: Detoxification. You can achieve this by using colon cleanses, or full body cleanses that will eradicate any impurities in your system.
Working Off That Pumpkin Pie
Now, if you were like me this past holiday, you have lost track of your diet during this past holiday. It is not like we set out to destroy our diet, but that Oreo pie sure did. The pumpkin pie and cookies seemed set on destroying my diet completely. At least the turkey was healthy. Now it is time to start working this weight off.
Now, the hard part of losing weight is trying to fit time in for the gym. Luckily, there are plenty of workouts that can be done in the office or at home. This makes it much more likely that someone is going to do the exercises, including myself. After all, going to the gym can be a lot when considering the amount of activity going on during this time of year.
- Squats- This essential aspect of working out is an easy to do move that has a lot of great effects on the body. The squat burns a lot of calories and builds strength so that the body burns more calories throughout the day. To do this, stand behind your chair and hold onto the back for balance. Bending at the knees and waist, squat down as though sitting in a chair, although be sure not actually sit down. Press through your heels and push yourself up.
- Sitting Leg Extensions- This move works the front of your legs and helps to build extra strength and flexibility. While sitting in your chair, straighten your legs flex your feet towards your knees. This will force you to flex your quadriceps and burn some calories while stretching behind the knees.
- Abdominal Flexing- Simply flexing a muscle is a sure way to engage that muscle and work it back into shape. The abdominal muscles are also known as the core muscles and they can help burn a lot of calories and provide with that shapely figure. Simply by keeping the abdominal muscles tight, the core muscles will burn calories and help to provide a better hourglass figure.
- Raised Push-ups- The push up is a great muscle builder. It helps to develop the chest, the back, the arms and shoulders. Not too many people like to get on the floor and do one though. The push-up can be done off the desk or chair. This makes it a bit easier to do the push-up and it helps to keep the person off the floor and the outfit clean.
Not everyone can simply begin to workout though. Luckily, there are some personal trainers who can help clients online. One such personal trainer is Rich Chessario. His website http://www.corefitnesserie.com allows people to contact him and request his assistance in losing weight. He creates individualized diet plans and exercise plans that do not require the use of a gym or excessive amounts of time. Check him out!
Technology As A Fashion Statement
Fashion is a common topic of discussion on this blog. Common are the discussions of how to find the perfect fit or the perfect shape. Well, that is all and good, and clothing does make the man, however, technology has recently made its way beyond just function and into fashion.
Pardon if I sound a little shocked, but this just hit me. I just realized that people are upgrading their technology, not because it is obsolete, but rather because it is fashionable. I just noticed how the larger, easier to use iPod Nano has been completely replaced by the harder to use and smaller iPod Nano Touch. I have just discovered that the simple to use cell phone has become a fashion accessory, rather than a phone.
Call me old, call me out of touch, but this is something that strikes me as unique. Never before has technology been considered anything but function. Now it is a matter of being fashionable and trendy. It is no longer a matter of having technology around because it makes life simpler; it is a matter of having it around to make us look better.
Just because I just noticed this does not mean that I have not fallen into this technology fashion. I carry my laptop around and have my eReader out and about with me. I didn’t opt for the iPad, but I do have a beautiful and fashionable reader. I searched for the perfect laptop bag, even though rarely do I need it. I have my headphones and my iPod, just like everyone else, and I even look down on the cheaper versions. It just kind of gives me a feeling that not only is fashion sneaking up on people, but so too is our dependence on this technology.
Cure for Hangovers
Family festivities and friendly parties often involve alcohol. Alcohol has one side effect that is felt after the use of it, the hangover. There are a lot of different ways that are thought to help heal hangovers. Not all of these methods are effective though, take it from me.
Ineffective:
- “Hair of the Dog” – This method claims that if you drink the alcohol that you drank the night before, you will be able to ward off the hangover. However, this might lessen the immediate effects of the hangover, but it certainly does not cure a hangover. Instead, you will only feel that much worse later during the day.
- Drink a cup of coffee —This method is a common method that is used by a lot of people. However, while the coffee will wake you up, it will only further dehydrate you. You will feel worse throughout the day.
- Drink pickle juice – The idea is that the vinegar in the pickle juice will help the hangover some how. However, chances are much more likely that the pickle juice will actually cause the person to puke, rather than feel better.
- Cold and hot showers are thought to help with the hangover, and it might help with the person’s smell and alertness, but for curing a hangover, not so much.
- Pain killers like Tylenol and Asprin are thought to be great ideas for hangovers, however, these can cause internal bleeding and this can cause an emergency situation. Pass these up.
Effective:
- Sleep – Sleep is essential to the body being able to process the alcohol. By sleeping, the body can heal and the hangover can be avoided.
- Water/Juice – Water and juice are great for the body when dealing with the effects of alcohol. The water and juice allows for the re-hydration of the body and the complete recovery from the hangover.
- Move – As hard as it may seem, getting up and moving is a great way to help cure the hangover. It can be one of the best ways to get over the hangover because the moving body can help to metabolize the alcohol.
