Easiest Way to Grill a New York Strip Steak Perfectly

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

I am unable to recant how many occasions that I have been subjected to eating improperly cooked steak. For the life of me I am unable to comprehend how you mess up making a New York strip steak, when the process is so freaking easy to do. But then again, there are people out there that can’t even make macaroni and cheese properly, so this really should come as no shocker. However, I find it necessary – after my last bad steak eating experience over a good friend’s house – to inform you all of the easiest way to make an amazing, perfect, succulent and delectable NY strip steak every time around. It’s super simple, and your mouth and tummy will greatly appreciate it as well!

How to Easily Make a Perfect NY strip steak

  1. Select the right NY strip steak. Look for choice cuts that have fine, thin lines of fat in them that looks marbleized. These will cook the best. This is because the fat lines melt into the meat as it grills, adding tons of savory flavor.
  2. Tenderize and marinate the meat. Choose your favorite marinade. Then, using two forks, punch tons of holes in each side of the steaks and marinate them uncovered in the fridge for thirty minutes.
  3. Heat up your barbeque to high and close the lid, allow it to heat up to at least 350 degrees. If you don’t have a barbeque, well you will never be able to make a NY strip steak properly; it requires an open flame in my opinion.
  4. Once your grill is all hot and ready, reduce the heat to medium-high and slap those NY strip steaks on it. Allow them to cook for about 6-7 minutes per inch, per side. DO NOT EVER FLIP THE MEAT MORE THAN ONCE!
  5. Close lid grill for the first four minutes then open grill for the remainder. Flip and repeat.
  6. Once the time has elapsed, turn off the grill, and allow the steaks to swell for about two minutes with a closed lid. This will really lock in the juicy flavor.
  7. Serve and enjoy divine bovine, done right every time!

Green Envy makes Me Green with Envy

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

Who would have thought that saving the environment was so darn sexy! Well, with Green Envy’s latest line of fall fashions, it is not only cool the save the earth, it is hot too. These outfits all feature organic and sustainable materials, including organic bamboo, cotton and a very small amount of spandex, these outfits are earth friendly, as well as eye friendly.

Green Envy is one of the latest producers of green friendly clothing. This fashionable line of clothing offers a small collection for women and children, but they will be expanding. In addition, they are available in some stores, such as Macy’s, as well as online at www.GreenEnvyShop.com.

The green movement is still active in the world. The idea of saving the world has gone from the hippies of yester-year to the professionals of this year. The green movement is no longer full of old clothes that are worn until they are barely holding together. The green movement is no longer about the tie dye outfits, Converse Sneakers, and the Hacky-Sack. While these items still have relevance in some circles, the green movement has become the “it” thing for the professional and fashion world.

With so much clothing being bought, worn for a short period of time, and then thrown out, it is little wonder that a new model for green clothing had to be created. Luckily, Green Envy stepped up to fill the need for fashionable outfits that were work and play appropriate. After all, limiting the impact on the earth while maximizing our impact on our peers is simply one of the best ways to live life!

Bundling Up for Winter

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

Winter is a beautiful, if freezing time of year. This cold time of year requires some additional bundling up to help prevent you from getting cold, and keep you looking stylish. There are many different coats on the market, and it is through the use of the coat that you can change your shape, look thinner and leaner, while still staying warm and dry.

This year, there is a big push towards the military style coats. These coats are often double breasted, making it unlikely that the cold air is going to seep through. They are also made of thick and rich wool, ideal for those bitter cold winter days. The military coat is loosely based off the coats worn in the military and are being pursued by fashionistas the country over.

The military coat has the benefit of a belt. This belt helps to pull the coat together at the waist, creating an hourglass appearance. The double breasted coat also helps to bring more emphasis to the top of the body, pulling the eye away from areas that might be more troublesome. When looking at coats, there are some things to look for, and these things will help to ensure you get the coat that works best for you, not just what is the hottest coat for this winter season.

  1. Think about how warm you are going to need to be. If you live in Florida or Texas, you will not need the heavy winter coats that people in Maine will need. This is simply because the winter temperatures do not normally go that low in the southern states while the northern states can remain at sub-zero temperatures for quite a while.
  2. Buy a coat that fits you. Do not purchase a coat that is too small, as this will make you appear bigger than you are. Do not purchase a coat that is too big, this will not make you appear smaller, just shapeless. Plus too big of a coat will not keep you as warm as a coat that actually fits you.
  3. Buy a coat that fits your body. Long trench coats should not be worn by short women. These coats will make the woman look even shorter. Instead, short women should wear jackets that fall mid thigh. Tall women can wear the long trench coats. Pea-coats look great on just about all women. Fluffy coats should be limited to the small and petite women, as should wraps. The double button jackets, they tend to float away from the body, working well for women with a little bit to hide.
  4. Wear a belt with your coat. A belt around the waist over a coat can help to create that hour glass look. When tying the belt, attach it to the narrowest part of your body, be it under the bust or at the natural waist. This belt can either contrast or match the jacket depending upon how it looks on you.
  5. Buy quality winter coats. Purchasing a quality winter coat, one that is designed for the actual winter, not just as a canvas for a logo, can greatly increase your satisfaction. Winter is a harsh season. A coat that is not properly made will not last the entire winter season.
  6. Buy accessories that match well with the coat. This includes gloves, hats and scarves. Tucking yourself into the coat is unattractive for even the most beautiful of women. Instead, you should be able to be comfortable in your coat and these accessories help you to be comfortable.
  7. Always try the coat on before you purchase it. Take a look at it and try on several different styles of jacket. After trying all these winter coats on, pick the one that looked the best on you. Remember to think on the lines of shape and color, as well as temperature appropriate.

Top Eight Male Fashion Faux Paws

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

It is time for another dissection of bad male fashion habits. These are things that we all see and loathe everyday; well at least for the most part. I am certain that you will not only get a chuckle out of this list, but that you will more than likely wholeheartedly agree with me as well. Unless you are a person who falls into this category, that is.

If so, this one’s for you!

  1. Wearing socks with sandals. Living in Arizona, I see this so often that it is incomprehensible. You just don’t wear socks with sandals. Jesus set that fashion standard a few thousand years back. Yeah, God was right!
  2. Flaunting sports Jerseys when it’s not game day. I know that you may be a fan of your favorite professional sports team. And congratulations on spending a hundred bucks to get an official jersey. But, when it is not game day, or you are not at a game, all you are is a big fat walking ad, dude!
  3. Ponytails and baseball caps. This really should be outlawed in every state in the union. You know that terrible look where the older guy—who more than likely is losing half the hair on his head but refuses to accept it and cut it—ties a ponytail. Then he thinks it looks sleek to tuck that behind the narrow oval in the back of the baseball cap where it clasps. Let’s go eighties here with my comment: “Smooth move Ex-Lax!”
  4. Dressing like Jerry Seinfeld. I love the TV show, and Seinfeld is and always will be dear to my heart and damn right freaking hilarious. His sense of fashion is, however, somewhat the opposite. If you think that dressing like any male in this show is cool, I bet they have a great-looking (NOT) fanny pack that you have been eying at Overstock.com.
  5. Bicyclists wearing ad-brandished attire. You see this all of the time. You know those guys that ride their bikes everywhere and have all pro gear, and are super serious about it, too. But they are not signed to any team. They are not really pros. Yet these morons pay hundreds of dollars to get their hands on biking outfits that fit very tightly and have hundreds of ads on them. News Flash: You are not getting paid! Rather, you are paying so that you can advertise. Nice move, you rock!
  6. Speedos, which really comprise egotistical men walking around the pool in tight underwear. Unless you are a pro swimmer, these tight-fitting swimming suits should not be donned. Really, what are you trying to do, lure the girls in with your bulge?
  7. The ‘Rat Tail’ hair dew. Who the hell thought that it would be cool to grow this sickly long strand of hair on your head, and then shave off all of the other hair? Whoever it was, they really need to be placed in the hall-of-fame for the worst hair style ever! Next to the pioneer of the mullet, of course.
  8. A-line shirts (wife beaters) on hideously obese men. This is the biggest fashion no-no ever! It is the male equivalent to the fat lady wearing spandex. It’s a privilege not a right! If you do wear these shirts, and you fit the above mantra, I am guessing there is a nifty mustard stain on it as well. But that doesn’t bother you much. You think it adds some flare.

Online Dating Escapades: The Adventure Continues (Plus Some Tips Shared)

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

I know that you have all been reading me rant and rave about the many online dating adventures that I have enjoyed, or been plagued by, over the past few months. I was even reading up some interesting factoids online about this online dating conundrum I find myself in the thick of. And interestingly enough, about 1 in 5 relationships these days is spawned from the seedlings of an online dating endeavor. Whether you are meeting up on social networking websites, or free or pay-to-use online dating websites, the reality is that many people like to hook up after they meet online.

The one thing I am having a hard time grasping is that this generally also leads to several other things, associated nuances if you will. After really getting a firm hold in the online dating world, and embarking upon so many dates that I have really lost count of them all, as I avidly seek out Miss Perfection—there are some tidbits that I have been able to take with me along the way. To better offer you some more in-depth perspective about dos and don’ts and dating tips, here are some of the things that I have been apprised of during my online dating adventures.

  1. Avoid endless strings of emails. If you are not able to score a date with a person after the rule of three (three emails back and forth, totaling six), you may be wasting your time. Besides, you are online to get a date. You can yap each other’s ears off once you are on that date, instead of in the body of the email.
  2. Girls: Stop showing your kids in the main profile picture! You want to know what most guys think when they see this terrible online dating faux paw: You are a desperate single mother. I know that you love your kids. But YOU are on the dating site, not them.
  3. Guys: Stop putting pictures in your profile without your shirt on. Girls abhor this egotistical crap. It really is a shining beacon that tells them that you are self-centered and seeking a one-night-stand. Yeah, that’s why your inbox is still empty, ‘toned-George!’

Finding the Right Bra

September 24, 2010 by IamMoody

Bras are always a topic of interest and discussion in the woman’s world. This is because they are both hated and loved. They hold the “twins” in place and in some cases make them look better than they normally do without the bra. They help make an outfit and they prevent sagging. However, the bra, if not properly fitted or if the wrong bra is worn for an outfit, can be uncomfortable and can expose too much or too little of a woman’s breast.

It is essential that when you go shopping for a bra, you are properly fitted for a bra. This will include having a professional go into the dressing with a measuring tape and actually measure you and compare your measurements to a chart that will explain exactly what size band and cup you need to have. This will help to ensure that you get the right fitting bra. The professional should also be able to explain to you how the different styles of bra will change your cup size, but your band size should not change.

There are many, many different styles of bras. There are different materials, different under wires, different paddings and different styles of straps that you have to pay attention to. Each different style is designed to meet the needs of the individual woman and the outfits that she will be wearing. This can help to ensure that the right sizes and designs are worn every time.

Straps:

  • Strap Less: This bra is designed to be worn with dresses and sleeveless shirts. This bra has no shoulder strap and often features sticky elastic under the band to hold the bra in place.
  • Clear Straps: This bra has plastic clear straps that provide additional support to the breasts but without the straps being clearly visible. In low light, these straps tend to blend in well with the woman’s body. This is idea for any time that the straps might show on a bra, such as an off the shoulder dress or t-shirt.
  • Convertible: This bra’s straps can be changed to fit the need of the outfit and individual. This can include making the bra strapless, racer backed or single sided. This is an ideal bra for the woman who has to change her outfit frequently.
  • Halter Straps: The halter strap does not go down the back, but rather attaches to each other behind the wearer’s neck. This is ideal for the halter dress or shirt since it does not ruin the lines of the dress, and does not show through the open back.
  • Racer Back: This style of strap causes the straps to meet each other half way to the back band. This prevents the straps from falling down the shoulders and helps to add extra support to the cups.

Cups:

  • Gel Filled: The gel filled bra cup adds padding without adding the lumpiness that the traditional cotton batting can add after the bra is washed. This gel should be removed before washing the bra and never should go through the dryer.
  • Demi Bra: This bra has very deep cut cups that allow the bra to work well with a deep V-neck outfit. This style of bra provides ample support but not a lot of coverage.
  • Contour Bra: The cups of this bra are shaped so that they mimic the shape of the woman’s body. This is a full coverage bra and works best under outfits that have full fronts and full backs.
  • Full Cup: The full cup bra has full coverage for the breasts and ample support. This bra is one of the most commonly worn bras because it is very comfortable and holds everything in place.
  • Half Cup: The half cup bra is a great bra for those outfits that have a very low scoop neck. This bra covers the nipples and the bottom half of the breast, but leaves the top exposed and often lifted.
  • Minimiser: This bra cup style reduces the appearance of the breast by at least 1 cup size. This is for those individuals who have excessive amounts of breast tissue. This can prevent gapping buttons and it can also help to create a smoother look.
  • Plunge: The plunge bra is a bra with cups that are shaped at a very steep V shape. These cups are often not padded, but do increase the bust size appearance due to the shape of the cups. These are ideal for deep V necks.
  • Soft Cup: The soft cup bra uses elastic under the cup to provide support to the breasts. There is no under wire at all. There may be some padding or not, depending upon the bra.
  • Under Wire: The under wire bra features a thin wire that sits under the cup and is wrapped in fabric. This wire helps to support the bra and maintain the shape of the cup.

Alternative Bras:

  • T-Shirt Bra: This is a seamless bra that is designed to be invisible even with the thinnest of materials. This is a great bra for any time you are wearing something very light weight.
  • Sports Bra: This style bra is a tighter bra that holds the twins in place even when a lot of activity is happening. This bra often has a racer back and no padding. These are not replacements for shirts.
  • Long Line: This bra extends down the sides, back and stomach of the wearer. It is most often worn with wedding dresses and other formal dresses as it helps to provide a smoother line and additional support and lift to the breasts.
