Trendsetter: Top Five Day Spa Trends in 2011

March 12, 2011 by IamMoody

It’s time to take a look at popular day spa trends in 2011, and what better of a place to examine day spa trends than at Moody? Many people often attribute the way that they look – or pursue different beauty regiments – from the wide variety of different treatments that they can enjoy receiving at various day spas across the country. And while many of these day spas offer a confluence of different treatments and share a general spa industry category in common, they often do not look like one another, and there are some interesting features and amenities that they offer that enables them to vary from one another; and which also allows for them to attract spa goers.

So with this in mind, let’s examine what comprises the top five day spa trends in 2011.

1. Medical day spas are truly taking over. Have you noticed how many different medical spas that there are currently? Tons, and tons! These newer day spas represent a trend where doctors are opening spas to offer laser hair removal, injections and other medical field related spa treatments.
2. Wellness and wellbeing: Your health is starting to be covered more and more at different day spas. Some even are starting to offer all natural treatments that use no chemicals, and this demand has spurred entire new product lines, too.
3. Speaking of health, naturopathic care is a newly evolving day spa trend as well. Some spas are now offering natural supplements for beauty, and others are evening staffing naturopaths to offer spa clients services.
4. Unique themes: Have you ever been to a day spa that looked like another? Chances are they share some features in common. But for the most part, they all have their own theme and appeal that makes them a truly unique place to relax at.
5. Makeup consultations are becoming the norm. Now those who are truly seeking to be as fashionable as is possible can get professional makeup consultations at day spas.

Holiday Hairiness Banished: Easy Waxing Tips for Guys

November 19, 2010 by IamMoody

Contrary to popular belief, men also need waxing treatments from time to time. But you don’t have to paint your face orange and go crazy over it. Rather, there are some simple tricks that you can implore that can get you out of a hairy holiday bind in a jiffy. Sometimes we men can get hair in some undesirable places. Furthermore, the ladies in our lives – or our significant others – may have trouble letting us know that we are too laden with fur for their liking. Here is a quick tip: If you have too much back hair, nose hair or you are sporting a unibrow, some simple waxing services may be in order.

Three Easy Waxing Tips for the Men

  1. Book an appointment at any local day spa. The waxing services are very affordable. They have seen just about everything, so there is no need to be shy. Try making one appointment per month to keep that hair from getting everywhere.
  2. Many hair salons offer waxing services. You may want to call them first, or look up there services list on their website. In some cases, a hair salon may offer cheaper waxing services than a day spa.
  3. DIY at-home waxing. Home waxing kits are pretty inexpensive these days. You can find them at local stores – like a drugstore – or online. The instructions are included. However, if you are shy of waxing yourself, the above options are recommended.

Fashion Weight-Loss Tips 101: Behold the Power of the Thermal Seaweed Body Wrap

October 17, 2010 by IamMoody

Once again, I return to the subject matter of weight loss and how it can greatly affect the fashion that you are looking to attain, and how it also can boost your overall confidence levels, not to mention allowing for you to fit into those skinny jeans you love, or that sexy skirt or blouse, or that saucy new top that you just got on sale for half off at the outlet store. But, if you have noticed, like I do, most retail fashion stores, and their clothing being offered there, don’t generally cater to plus-sizes.

However, if you have noticed that you have gone up a waist size or two over the past year or so, there are some simple tricks that you can employ that can literally zap off a few belt sizes. I aim to share one of them with you today, in a new section I am creating for this blog that I dub as: Fashion Weight-Loss Tips 101. Now on to business, and make sure to check back often, as I will be continuously adding more weight loss tips every week to help you out along the way.

Fashion Weight-Loss Tips 101: The Thermal Seaweed Body Wrap

So what is a thermal seaweed body wrap, and how does it work, and how does it help you to lose weight rapidly? Most day spas offer a body wrap like this for about $100, on average. They use a seaweed paste that they coat your body with and then wrap in a thermal layer of heated towels, generally placing you under heat lamps, or something similar for about an hour. The paste goes to work as you sweat out toxins and excess fluids, like toxins and fluids that are found in pockets of cellulite. Not only do these body wraps work wonders for your skin’s texture, tone and suppleness, but most people report dropping a belt size or two after their very first visit to the day spa.

Easy At-Home Way to Reduce Blemishes & Minimize Fine Lines & Wrinkles

October 17, 2010 by IamMoody

As I near my thirtieth birthday, I have come upon the realization – as most of us do when we are getting close to our big three-zero – that I am getting older, not any younger. Such is the process of life, and with this aging process does come some other undesirable unsightliness that I am doing my best to evade. Things like the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on my face, blemishes, or even clogged pores—which just drive me crazy, as I always want my skin to look youthful, supple, textured and toned. However, I have managed to figure out a really sweet, affordable and easy way that you can tackle these skin issues and combat the signs of aging, and all from the comfort of your own home, too!

AHAs (glycolic acid) chemical peels/acid peels: I was looking around online and have been so far able to find some really affordable glycolic acid peels that harness the power of alphahydroxy acids, or AHAs. You can easily uncover some really inexpensive at-home facial chemical peel kits that come with the acid, the neutralizer and the moisturizer for around $20 or so online.

To apply them, lightly dab the AHAs onto your face, starting with the least sensitive areas first and the most sensitive areas last. Once you notice the skin starting to turn light pink, use the neutralizer and reverse the process, starting with the most sensitive areas and finishing off with least sensitive areas. Then, simply add some moisturizer and you are good to go.

The best part: These chemical peels can be used on a weekly basis, and you are saving a horde of cash off what the day spas would charge you for the same thing (around $75-$165 or more, depending upon the spa). Make sure to follow up with a solid SPF sunscreen for proper UV protection.
